Boston-based clothing store Ministry of Supply is coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek where Vince Camuto used to be. Check out their website here. “Complimentary tailoring” is a nice perk. According to the Wikipedia page, it was founded by MIT students and funded by Kickstarter campaigns. Sounds interesting! Has anyone been to their San Francisco store? Thanks to a reader for sending word about the latest city permit info.

Friday Question of the Day – Have you ever been Hacked?

This week I visited the RSA security expo at the Moscone Center in San Francisco where I saw so many companies promoting security products I was left amazed. That place is huge! Earlier this week I also made this blog more secure as well (see the Secure lock at top in the address bar).

That got me wondering how many people have personally been hacked. Has your email, Facebook etc ever been hacked? How did you recover? What steps did you take so it won’t happen again? I always enable an additional option (when offered) when I sign-in by getting a code via text message etc and so far haven’t had problems (knock on wood).

La Sen Bistro Opening in Downtown Walnut Creek Mid April

Concord-based La Sen Bistro, featuring French-Vietnamese cuisine, is opening a new location in downtown Walnut Creek where Ottavio used to be and are expecting to open in mid-April. Check out their menu here. I look forward to trying this place out; has anyone been to their Concord location?

Women from throughout the East Bay will unite to perform benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES produced by Galatean Players Ensemble Theatre in association with Our Whole Lives of the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church.

“In this current political climate, I wanted to do something positive,” said director Kathryn G. McCarty, who assembled a group of 27 actresses who share a common belief that they need to take action. The group is rallying around Northern California Planned Parenthood.

Boba Scuttlebutt – T4 Tea for You Coming to Downtown Walnut Creek

The Candy Counter closed last spring in downtown Walnut Creek and now word on the street is that the boba tea cafe T4 Tea for U is opening a second Walnut Creek location after Ygnacio Plaza. If this turns out to happen that means downtown Walnut Creek will be home to four boba tea cafes after i-Tea opens. This would exceed the number of downtown ice cream spots: Lottie’s Creamery, CREAM, and San Francisco Creamery although Godiva and Kara’s Cupcakes offer soft serve ice cream.

Fresh fruit off your tree is so much better than what you find in stores! The best time to plant fruit trees and berries is in January and February, when nurseries have the best selection of bare root plants. Learn how to choose, prep, plant, prune, and maintain your fruit trees. Special attention will be given to keeping them small through first and subsequent pruning (dwarfing rootstock doesn’t keep them small). We will also touch on berries and go over differences in planting blackberries, raspberries and blueberries.
