Citra Grill Closing Very Soon in Downtown Walnut Creek

1550 Olympic Blvd, Walnut Creek

Thanks to @brandishstudio for pointing out that Citra Grill is closing in downtown Walnut Creek. They opened in 2012 and featured fresh Mediterranean-style California cuisine such as skewers, salads and soups. Check out their menu here.

According to a letter in the window, they lost their lease unexpectedly and are looking for an alternate location where they plan on converting to a “more traditional full-service restaurant”.

Bummer. The food was awesome here. Hopefully they’ll be able to reopen in the area.

Oh no! This was one of my favorite places to go for a lighter meal – plus all of the employees were all incredibly nice.

I wonder what the owner has in mind, if it’s happening so abruptly…

I wonder if this has anything to do with that coming Food Hall, which I think is supposed to be situated right behind there.

That is my bet. The Food Hall as proposed sounds way too big for the current site between Citra and the Bank. However, makes much more sense if the two properties are developed as on one.

Also, have to agree with M. Always enjoyed the food & service but somehow the pricing seems on high end of the offerings.

Prices were toooooo high! Excellent food and service. However, for a casual dining spot, my bill was often over $50 for 2 people for lunch.

I completely agree. I loved the food but thought the price was much too high for the small portions. Especially when most of the items on the plate are things like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and potatoes, not high cost items.

    “Follow us on Twitter @CitraGrill”
hrrrm… Twitter account since 2012, one follower, zero tweets.

I had high hopes but they were very pricey and their salad selection was limited.
