The new Dunkin’ Donuts concept store called simply Dunkin’ is opening tomorrow at the Clayton Center where Ghost Golf used to be in Concord. In addition to a drive-thru this store will feature nitro cold brew coffee on tap!

Amsterdam-based Rituals Cosmetics is opening in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek next month according to the display in front of the location next to the soon to open Johnny Was and Free People. Check out their online shop here and read an article about the founder Raymond Cloosterman here.

In June we learned that Basil Leaf Cafe would be closing in Danville and they are now closed. Keep on the lookout for Cocina Hermanas (from Harvest across the street) to open here this fall.
This week we learned that Orchard Supply Hardware and Handworks of Danville will be closing. Earlier this month it was Brookstone and Campana Music. And before that it was Transitions and Nitro Dog in Lafayette, Look + See in Danville, and The Art of Shaving in Broadway Plaza.
Is the rate of store closings trending upward recently or is this just a combination of out with the old, in with the new? It looks like online shopping is having an impact but is this impact increasing lately or is it just that some companies are not able to adapt? Earlier this year we learned that Concord Tap House would be opening in a small shopping center on Clayton Rd. and they have now opened. Some Contra Costa residents and visitors may have been exposed to measles recently after a Contra Costa County resident visited several public venues while contagious.
“We have notified people in Contra Costa who were known to be in close contact to the case, but not every potential contact at a public venue can be identified. Anyone who visited the following locations during the indicated dates and times could have potentially been exposed to the measles virus and should check immunity status.” said Paul Leung, Communicable Disease Programs Chief with Contra Costa Public Health.
