The restaurant La Fritanguera Nicaraguan Cuisine, currently catering at Nica Lounge in Concord is opening a new restaurant a few blocks away. Check out their current menu here. “Influenced by Spanish and Caribbean cuisine” sounds intriguing, I look forward to checking this place out!

Tickets are on sale now for the Lafayette Juniors 18th Annual Kitchen Tour. This self-guided tour will be held on Saturday, May 20th from 10am to 3pm and welcomes guests into six special Lafayette homes with masterfully-designed unique, elegant, and awe-inspiring kitchens. Attendees will receive a Kitchen Tour program detailing all of the distinctive design elements of the kitchens as well as information on the architects, designers, and contractors who created these spaces. This year on the tour, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a few of the professionals who created these stunning spaces.
Proceeds from this year’s event benefit the work of four local non-profit organizations: Contra Costa Interfaith Housing, Alternative Family Services, The Taylor Family Foundation, and Trinity Center. These organizations were selected by the Lafayette Juniors for the support they provide to women, families, and individuals in need throughout the East Bay.

Pizza My Heart Opens in Downtown Walnut Creek

In March we learned that Pizza My Heart would be opening sometime in April in Plaza Escuela (where Project Pie used to be) in downtown Walnut Creek and they have now opened. Curiously, a video on their Facebook page shows a spinning booth. Check that out here and their menu here.

Kit and Ace Closes in Broadway Plaza (and Elsewhere)

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Kit and Ace is closing all US locations. Sure enough, the Broadway Plaza Kit and Ace, which only opened at the end of 2015, is closed. That sure was fast. Usually you see sales for some time to get rid of inventory but the inside looked like a fully stocked store!

In-N-Out Burger No Longer Coming to Walnut Creek

Thanks to everyone who sent word that In-N-Out Burger is no longer coming to Walnut Creek. Last month we learned that a development was planned for the corner of 2nd Ave. and Main St. anchored by In-N-Out Burger but according this SFGate article the developer dropped plans for In-N-Out, “citing neighbors’ “concerns and anxiety”.
