With Christmas a little more than two weeks away and the holiday shopping season well underway, have you purchased all your Christmas gifts by now? Or do you wait until the last minute? With Chanukah happening right now I know some people needed to pick things up extra early.
WomenSing Winter Reflections Concert:
Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church
1601 Mary Dr, Pleasant Hill
Wednesday, December 12th, 2018
8:00pm | $28In this concert, not only will we sing songs celebrating Christmas, but also songs that inspire us to look deep into our souls and ponder life. Join WomenSing in an exploration of winter wisdom from sacred and secular traditions found in an ancient Greek Orthodox hymn, an Aboriginal songline, a soft Jewish Shabbat eve tune, a contemporary interpretation of early Chinese philosophy from the I Ching (noting encouragingly that even in the darkness there is light because “when the sun goes, the moon comes”), and a unique rendition of “In the Bleak Midwinter”, by American composer Frances McCollin, whose blindness in early childhood caused her to see colors when hearing music.
Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga
The annual See’s Candies popup shops opened in Moraga at the Rheem Valley shopping center, next to Starbucks, open until December 24, 10am – 5pm. Another popup is located at the Moraga Center between Loard’s Ice Cream and the Moraga Garden Center.
The Kiwanis Club’s See’s Holiday Shops are an annual, major fund-raising effort that benefits charities in Lamorinda and nearby communities. The club raises and distributes in total approximately $60,000 annually.

155 Railroad Ave, Danville
In September we learned that the Oregon-based indoor cycling studio StarCycle would be coming to Danville and they open today with free rides available through Sunday the 9th. This is their first California location and features a, “low-impact, high-intensity proprietary indoor cycling method, carefully choreographed to work every muscle group in the body and push riders to their edge.” Check out their schedule and find out more about the owner here.
From an email:
StarCycle is a different kind of indoor cycling studio—it’s a welcoming and energetic 45-minute class that keeps you smiling, sweating and motivated long-term. We believe fitness is the cornerstone to happiness, for both mind and body. In our classes clients unplug from our tech-heavy lives to connect with themselves and the beat of the music, leading to a more effective workout.
As part of StarCycle’s commitment to make working out easy and realistic for riders (especially moms) the studio will offer on-site child care through the brand’s StarKids program for just $5 per class.

It looks like the French goods store Decors De France is relocating to their third downtown Walnut Creek spot where V & V Fine Jewelry & Coin used to be. Check out their website here. This looks way larger then their Cypress St. location.

Geary Marketplace, Walnut Creek
Thanks to everyone who emailed about Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf closing at Geary Marketplace where Sprouts Farmers Market is located in Walnut Creek. They opened with great fanfare over four years ago but that was then and this is now. Maybe Starbucks will move in? How’s the parking situation there, is it still packed?
