Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word that the casual men’s shirt store UNTUCKit is coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek where True Religion and Just Cozy used to be. Check out their men’s selection here and women’s selection here.
From their website:
It ought to be easy: to look smart, casual, and feel comfortable with your shirt untucked. But dress shirts are simply not designed to be worn untucked and it shows. We did a ton of research to understand where people wanted the shirt to fall – the perfect length. And using this information, we defined the design for the untucked shirt. One fit for comfort and not convention; designed for the untucked man. An untucked shirt. UNTUCKit shirts are dress shirts for the rest of us
1273 Locust St, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for pointing out that after being open less than six months Take One Pizza has closed in downtown Walnut Creek. When I dropped by over the weekend mail was seen piling up right behind the front door. You may recall a few years ago Project Pie closed a short hop away after being open only a few months, replaced by Pizza My Heart so maybe we’ll see a new pizza place open here as well?
In addition to Pizza My Heart there is also Extreme Pizza, CPK, Pancoast Pizza and my favorite, Slice House!
The Veranda, Concord
Last month we found out that a Banana Republic Factory Outlet would be coming to the Veranda shopping center in Concord, and a GAP factory outlet is coming to The Veranda as well. According to a source it looks like GAP may close in the Sunvalley shopping center. Old Navy is also relocating to The Veranda.

Saturday, March 10th – Sunday, March 11th, 2018Two days of Bigfoot, Yeti and Swamp Ape movies and documentaries with Special Guest Speakers Loren Coleman, Seth Breedlove of Small Town Monsters, Peter Von Puttkamer of Sasquatch Odyssey: The Hunt for Bigfoot, Daniel Perez of the Bigfoot Times and Matt Ralston of Cryptozoologist!
Not sure if all Dos Coyotes Border Cafe bathrooms use these Saniguard door knobs but I always worry about there not being paper towels in a public bathroom forcing me to use my hands to open the door. With this handle I can use my inner elbow to open it while keeping my hands nice and clean. Genius!
This week we learned about a backyard chicken workshop next week which got me thinking about the eggs I sometimes buy at the farmers market. Can you tell the difference between store-bought eggs and those from the farmers market or freshly laid eggs? Do you shop at the farmers market? What things are you inclined to buy there?

Marketplace Shopping Center, San Ramon
theCoderSchool, “a place where kids learn to code all year round” opened recently in the Marketplace Shopping Center in San Ramon. In addition to classes they also offer camps which can be viewed here.
From their website:
Rather than using static one-size-fits-all curriculums, our core program uses an immersion and mentoring approach in a super-small student to teacher ratio (typically 2:1). This allows our Code Coaches® to personalize and customize based on the students, making for a much more engaging experience. Instead of linear learning of concepts from a curriculum, we immerse the kids in coding by building stuff and then building more stuff!
