11:00am – 6:00pm | FreeThe free event, presented by Bayview Senior Services, will feature live music, vendor booths, a Kid’s zone, and a dazzling variety of food venues. Some of the offerings include fried chicken, catfish, oxtails, ribs, links, black-eyed peas, red beans and rice, greens, yams, mac & cheese, cornbread, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, pound cake and other soulful delights–all of which will be sure to rival mama and grandmas’ down-home cooking.
Black Cuisine will also give soul food novices and chefs an opportunity to share their culinary talents by entering the Soul Food Cooking contest with winners receiving cash prizes. Last year’s festival drew more than 2,000 attendees and we anticipate that number increasing this year.

From their website:
Established in 2013, we have quickly become a popular place for fresh seafood in Koreatown of Los Angeles, CA. With locations opened in Irvine, Woodland Hills and in the Santa Anita Mall. Check out our raw bar which consists of tasty goodness such as oysters, live uni, and a seafood tower (for those that like variety). You’ll also be able to have your favorite drink from our fully stocked bar served by our awesome mixologists.
This week we learned about someone searching for an anniversary memento from the Alamo Creek Restaurant. As time goes by more old-time restaurants close, replaced by sleeker versions offering nouveau cuisine popular right now. Which classic restaurant do you miss the most? Anyone remember Bing Crosby’s next to Macy’s?
Check out the above downtown Walnut Creek scene and you’re probably drawn to the sweet looking red convertible at right. However, what caused me to do a double take was the skateboarder behind the white jeep. What was he doing just standing on his board directly behind the car? I tried make sense of it, but it was only when the light turned green and he whizzed by effortlessly crossing Mount Diablo Blvd. that it all made sense. An electric skateboard!
The Veranda, Concord
Lots of new stores coming to the Veranda shopping center in Concord with Old Navy being the latest. According to an employee from the current Old Navy store at the Willows shopping center located next door they plan on opening sometime in 2019.

My husband and I both grew up in Alamo, and our first date was at Alamo Creek Restaurant (now Lamorinda Pizza). As an anniversary present, I am trying to find a photo, menu, or really anything from the restaurant. I know you post a lot of restaurant openings/closings so I am hoping you might have a photo.
