FreeTaking place over three consecutive days in the skies above the City’s waterfront, this air show event attracts over a million people around the Bay. Featuring the United States Navy Blue Angels.
Spotted at the new Burgerim in Pleasant Hill. The sign on the door says, “restroom for all”. Next to the door is a typical bathroom sign: “WOMEN”. Which one is correct?
The other day I found myself at Plaza Park in Lafayette (confirming that A Runner’s Mind really did close) when I realized it was dinner time and I was responsible for bringing dinner home. At that moment I peered into Sideboard wondering if they offered any interesting takeout options. Sure enough there was a sign for a bucket of fried chicken takeout. Tired of the usual go-to options like pizza etc, I decided to go for it and we quite enjoyed it at home.
What is your favorite takeout spot?
501 Hartz Ave, Danville
In June we learned that Basil Leaf Cafe would be closing in Danville and more details are coming out about the Mexcian restaurant Cocina Hermanas, owned by Darren Matte of Harvest across the street and Per Diem in San Francisco:
From an email:
Mr. Matte’s future Mexican cuisine establishment will marry well-known Mexican street food and family dishes with a philosophy of fresh, local and sustainable ingredients. A new bar stretching the front of the restaurant will also provide diners with an extensive selection of mescals, tequilas and specialty cocktails to complement their dining experience.
An expected opening for Cocina Hermanas is scheduled for mid November.
Mt. Diablo Blvd. & Moraga Rd, Lafayette
Last year we learned that Wells Fargo closed at the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Moraga Rd. in downtown Lafayette and there are plans for La Fiesta Square to expand all the way from Luxe Home by Douglah Designs to this corner. With the potential for up to 30,000 sf of retail space on three levels according to the development page, I believe this will have the most visibility of all retails areas in Lafayette and look forward to finding out what opens here. What store would you most like to see?

Guests may arrive early on Wednesday to set up their chairs and get comfortable for the performance.
Saw this giant artwork being put up at Lesher Center in downtown Walnut Creek over the weekend. Pretty cool how it’s done by hand rather than a preprinted overlay.
1513 Cypress St, Walnut Creek
Renew Cryotherapy closed recently in downtown Walnut Creek. They opened a couple of years ago and their website is offline.
