1273 Locust St, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for pointing out that after being open less than six months Take One Pizza has closed in downtown Walnut Creek. When I dropped by over the weekend mail was seen piling up right behind the front door. You may recall a few years ago Project Pie closed a short hop away after being open only a few months, replaced by Pizza My Heart so maybe we’ll see a new pizza place open here as well?
In addition to Pizza My Heart there is also Extreme Pizza, CPK, Pancoast Pizza and my favorite, Slice House!
Crow Canyon Commons, San Ramon
The restaurant Plucked Chicken & Beer is opening in Crow Canyon Commons in San Ramon. According to Diablo Dish these are the same owners as Sauced with locations in Livermore and Walnut Creek. Check for updates on their Facebook page here. I wonder what the self-service beer taps will be like…
From their website:
Plucked Chicken & Beer will feature creative and fun dishes made with, you guessed it… chicken! From appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees and an impressive selection of self-service beer taps, we guarantee you’ll leave wanting more.
1616 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
OI-C Bowl hasn’t been closed for long and already Siam Fine Thai Cuisine has soft-opened in this downtown Walnut Creek spot. The restaurant, with a Palo Alto location, serves traditional Thai cuisine compared to the more fusion-style Thai dishes you might find around town. Check out their menu here.
Note that the interior will be updated soon.

Yesterday we learned that The Vitamin Shoppe will be closing at the end of March in downtown Walnut Creek with a Starbucks opening in its place. However, according to a solid source this is not going to be any old ordinary Starbucks; rather look for a new Starbucks Reserve to open here featuring a “more intimate small-lot coffee experience”. Find out more about the Starbucks Reserve concept on their website here. Note that a Starbucks Reserve will be opening on Hartz Ave. in Danville as well.
From the Starbucks Reserve website:
Apart from the full-scale theatricality of the Starbucks Reserve™ Roasteries, our bars and stores offer a more intimate small-lot coffee experience. These are the perfect places to pick up Starbucks Reserve™ whole bean coffee, enjoy a handcrafted Starbucks Reserve™ beverage and chat with a barista about all things coffee.
