Fusion Bistro Opening End of July across from Todos Santos Plaza in Concord

Earlier this week we learned that the boba cafe T4 opened in Salvio Pacheco Square across from Todos Santos Plaza in Concord and it turns out the owner (who also owns Sushi Delight in San Leandro) also plans on opening the restaurant Fusion Bistro next door by the end of July which will feature Chinese style fusion dishes. I was able to get some photos of the inside since it’s directly connected to T4 via the hallway in back. They also share bathrooms.

Friday Question of the Day – Do you have or Plan on getting Solar Panels?

As I walk around neighborhoods I notice more and more houses, buildings, schools etc have solar panels appearing on roofs. Seems like a good match for the great California sunshine we get as long it’s not shady. Do you have or are planning to get solar panels for your home? If you have solar panels would you do anything differently?

Capital One Cafe Soft Opening Tomorrow in Downtown Walnut Creek

Last April we learned about a new Capital One Cafe bank opening in downtown Walnut Creek where GAP used to be next to the Apple store and according to an employee I spoke with over the weekend they are planning to soft open tomorrow (judging by the above photo I would add, *hopefully*), followed by the official grand opening on July 22nd with “awesome sweepstake giveaways”, “free food and coffee sampling”, “free swag giveaways” and more.

In addition to being able to get work done in a cafe-like environment this will be especially great for those with Capital One accounts (including credit cards) since all Peet’s drinks will be 50% off. This week I was at their San Francisco cafe and it was nice to see so many people working on their laptops as well as in small groups in a cafe-like environment.

Huge Fire Destroys La Finestra Ristorante, Chamber of Commerce Buildings in Downtown Lafayette

NBC Bay Area reports that a huge blaze in downtown Lafayette has destroyed the buildings housing the Chamber of Commerce, La Finestra Ristorante and other businesses. Check out the article for video of the blaze:

Damage was estimated at around $1.1 million, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Department, and the building was a “total loss.” The structure also housed a nail salon, a certified public accountant’s office and the popular La Finestra Ristorante.

Nearby apartments were evacuated because of radiant heat from the fire and propane tanks exploding at the restaurant, fire officials said.

A witness reported flames that reached between 100 and 150 feet high.

Now THAT’s a Street Sign!

Check out these new street signs in downtown Concord; they’re GIGANTIC! Props to whoever was responsible for getting these put up, other cities should follow suit, or at least make sure there are street signs. Sometimes I’ll be on a corner trying to figure out what’s the cross street without any visible sign, even on the other three corners. Very annoying!

Tonli Kitchen Soft Opens in Walnut Creek

Tonli Kitchen, the new restaurant from the owners of the Tonli Dumpling House food truck we learned would be opening in the Avalon apartment complex across from Pleasant Hill BART station in Walnut Creek has now soft opened although they were closed when I dropped by over the weekend. Has anyone been yet? Any recommended dishes to try?
