Iron Horse Plaza, Danville
Over the weekend Noah’s Bagels opened at Iron Horse Plaza in Danville. In addition to usual dishes and drinks they also offer kombucha, cold brew iced tea and coffee on tap. Check out their menu here. I smiled when I saw the t-shirts they wore, Holla for Challah.
Thanks to everyone who sent word that Orchard Supply Hardware is closing all stores by year end. According to this NBC Bay Area article, “employees were informed of the permanent shutdown Tuesday, and store liquidations will begin Thursday.” OSH opened a couple of years ago in the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center and there are also nearby locations in San Ramon, Moraga, and Concord.

10:00amThe Warriors Dance Team will hold auditions for the 2018-19 team on Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m. at The Ultimate Fieldhouse (2675 Mitchell Drive) in Walnut Creek. The Warriors are looking for talented dancers and entertainers with an energetic personality to become ambassadors for the Warriors organization during the 2018-19 NBA season.
Finalists selected from the preliminary auditions must be available from August 26-30 to attend a finalist interview, boot camp and final auditions on Thursday, August 30. To pre-register for auditions visit Warriors.com/danceteam.
Moraga Shopping Center
The Italian/Sicilian restaurant La Finestra closed last summer in Lafayette after a huge fire and although there were talks about them coming to Hacienda de las Flores in Moraga which ultimately fell through it turns out that that La Finestra will be coming to Moraga after all, this time where Terzetto Cuisine used to be, across from Safeway. Look for an October opening. This new location will feature an oyster bar, a banquet room in back for private parties, as well as a baby grand piano played by Stanley Middle School director Bob Athayde. The gift shop and arts & crafts store Handworks of Danville is closing their retail store August 25th (according to an employee I spoke with over the weekend) after 25 years in business. They plan on offering an online shop which you can check out here.

After 25 years, we are closing the retail store in Danville downtown at the end of August.
It has been sure fun but retail is all going online and local stores are all struggling. So we have decided to take Handworks also full online in few months after we close the retail store.

In honor of Town Hall Theatre’s upcoming production of The Revolutionists and Marie Antoinette’s famous saying, “Let them eat brioche” (yes, that’s what she said), we’re taking you on a tour of this 100-year-old theater, giving you a sneak peak into the show and following it up with selection of various dishes all made with brioche.
Local restaurants participating in the Brioche Challenge include Yankee Pier, American Kitchen and Locanda Positano, recently named 2018 Best New Restaurant of the East Bay.
Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga
Over the past few months Moraga residents have eagerly anticipated the opening of Noodle Theory, the Asian fusion eatery with popular locations in Oakland and Emeryville and they have now opened with packed diners clamoring to get a spot over the weekend. It got so busy on Saturday with outside diners they had to temporarily close the outdoor patio yesterday to give the kitchen a chance to catch up. Check out their Moraga location web page here. In addition to indoor seating there is a spacious outdoor dining patio in front as well as bar seating. Wine and beer, including several draft choices (Oakland United, Fort Point and more) will go great with these dishes with a kick. My favorites were the beef udon, chicken wings and tofu and veggie garlic noodles. Check out photos of these dishes and more after the jump. It’s great to see an exciting restaurant of this caliber opening in Boraga, I mean Moraga, hopefully setting a trend that will continue going forward…

Danville Hotel Town Center
Macy’s-owned skincare company Bluemercury is coming to Danville Hotel Town Center on Hartz Ave. this fall, where Heavenly Couture used to be. A couple of years ago they opened in nearby Lafayette at La Fiesta Square so their expansion in the East Bay continues. Check out their website here and find out more about the founders here.
