The Chinese restaurant Wonderland closed earlier this month and Nanking Bistro has now reopened in its place on Hartz Ave. in Danville next to Fosters Freeze. Check out their menu here. I wonder how their house wings compares to my favorite at San Tung on Irving St. in San Francisco?
Alamo Plaza
In the spring we learned that the pet supply and grooming store Bark Avenue would be opening in Alamo Plaza, partly where Loard’s Ice Cream used to be and they have now opened. Check out their services here. Information about their DIY dog washes can be found here.

Mitchel Canyon Visitor’s Center

6:30 – 8:30pm | $18Explore the habitat of local scorpions along the north face of Mount Diablo, starting at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. Experience the excitement of finding scorpions glowing like green neon signs in the dark discover and observe the diverse plants and animals inhabiting Mount Diablo. Hikes cover a distance of 2 miles.
BRING flashlight, hiking shoes and bottled water. Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center. Map and directions will be emailed with your online registration confirmation.
College Square, Pleasant Hill
While we wait for Roll House to open in downtown Walnut Creek it turns out that Roll House 2 already opened at College Square near Diablo Valley College (DVC) on Golf Club Rd.in Pleasant Hill. They offer both sushi and poke bowls. I found out about this new restaurant from the foodhoe Instagram page here which has some really great photos of food dishes from mostly around the Bay Area. Willows Shopping Center, Concord
Spirit Halloween is coming to the Willows shopping center in Concord, this time in a larger spot where Cost Plus World Market used to be before jumping ship to nearby Veranda shopping center. Check out their online selection here.
From the Walnut Creek PD:
On August 25, 2018, at approximately 5:40 P.M., four suspects entered the Apple store in Broadway Plaza. Within seconds, the four suspects ripped several Apple IPhones and Apple laptop computers from security tethers and then ran out of the store with the merchandise. The suspects fled the scene in a black Mercedes SUV (5XRS835 CA). The suspects were described as black males, unknown age, and had sweatshirts on with the hoods up and cinched around their faces. There were no weapons involved, no injuries to customers, and the dollar loss was approximately $30,000.00.

Joining them for a panel discussion on changes in cannabis laws, the latest medical cannabis research, and strains that may help common ailments will be special guest panelists Sara Payan, Public Education Officer for the Apothecarium (San Francisco), and Danielle Schumacher, CEO of THC Staffing Group (San Francisco).
The program includes a Q&A with the audience. Science Cafe will be recorded for an audio episode of The Cannabis Corner Postcast to be broadcast at a later date.
The Veranda, Concord
Poke Bowl opened recently at the Veranda shopping center in Concord in a small spot across from the movie theater. Plenty of outdoor seating. I tried locating their website without luck as poke bowl is pretty generic, does anyone know their website, FB or Insta?
Main Street Plaza, Walnut Creek
The Australian-based gym F45 Training, which features high-intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, and functional training is opening very soon at Main Street Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek where Ross is located.
