We are kicking off WCFW’s with Neon Velvet in May, followed in June by Vybe Society. May through September you can end the work or school day on the first Wednesday of each month with a street festival full of live music, dancing, food trucks, wine and beer, Kids Fun Zone, interactive games and free prizes. This year we are partnering with the Contra Costa Certified Farmers Market (Sundays, 9a-1p, Cypress St, WC) to create a Chef’s Demo. Stop by and enjoy some delicious recipes.

Esin Restaurant & Bar Coming to Lafayette

The Danville-based restaurant and bar Esin will be coming to Lafayette where Yankee Pier used to be at the Lafayette Mercantile plaza according to Lamorinda Weekly. Check out a sample lunch menu here and dinner menu here.

Industrious (Coworking + Private Offices) Coming to Broadway Plaza Winter 2019 in Walnut Creek

Industrious, a New York-based coworking and private office space company, is coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek by year-end. One possible location is on the second floor where the Lululemon and L’Occitane building is located although that has not been confirmed. According to their Bay Area location webpage, prices in San Francisco start at $500+ for a community membership and $900+ for a private office so stay tuned for pricing in this suburban location…

Burma 2 Opening this May in Downtown Walnut Creek

Last month downtown Walnut Creek had NO Burmese restaurants and by next month there will be two of them as Burma 2 is expected to open next month in May where Siam Fine Thai used to be. The other Burmese restaurant, Burma Unique, opened just this week. Check out their website here. However, I wonder what’s going on in front of the restaurant as that looks like a pretty big hole down there.

Question of the Day – What’s the “Next Big Thing” you’d Like to See? How about a Dog Kitchen?

A few years ago I wrote how frozen yogurt and juice bars were taking over and how something more interesting like a rice pudding shop should open. After a recent visit to NYC I found a new shop planning to open called JustFoodForDogs, “New York’s first dog kitchen” that will provide, “small-batch, preservative-free meals” using “human-grade food” according to this Dogster article.

With the high-end dog boutique rororiri opening recently in downtown Walnut Creek, can a dog kitchen make it around here?

Goodbye Poke, Hello Japanese Desserts – Boba Hangs On in Downtown Walnut Creek

The boba/poke restaurant T4 & Poke which opened a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek is switching things up as they get rid of the poke and will be known as Amausaan Uji Matcha / Japanese Cuisine & Lounge. The boba drinks will remain as they offer Japanese desserts such as Matcha Mille Crepe. Check out their menu here. As a fan of Japanese desserts I look forward to trying this place out!

Luck Boutique Relocating to Lafayette CLocktower

The “high-end clothing and lifestyle boutique” Luck that opened last December at Lafayette Forge is relocating to the Lafayette Clocktower where Radio Shack used to be. Check out the clothing, shoes, jewelry and lifestyle brands they carry here. They are scheduled to open in their new spot by the end of May.
