Earlier this week we learned about a labor dispute protest in front of the Apple store in downtown Walnut Creek. One Facebook comment mentioned “crossing the picket line”. Some other comments indicate that this is a less-than valid protest.
At the time I didn’t even think of this as a picket line but rather more of an informational display. Would you cross a labor picket line or would you back off in solidarity with the protesters?

Back in April we learned that Palo Alto-based Rick’s Rather Rich Ice Cream would be coming to the Willows Shopping Center in Concord and there has been quite a bit of progress with the signage now up. Hopefully they can open before summer ends. Stay tuned…

Thanks to a reader for pointing out in a comment that GAP is relocating to Broadway Plaza, across the street from their current location next to the Apple store in Walnut Creek. It looks like they’re possibly planning for an early 2016 opening.

KTVU has further information on the murder-suicide committed by Acalanes High School (Lafayette) graduate Scott Bertics against Las Lomas High School (Walnut Creek) graduate Clare Orton that happened on July 21st in the North Homestead neighborhood of Walnut Creek.
According to the Walnut Creek police department, “two firearms [were] used by Bertics on 7/21/15. Both weapons were built by Bertics, who secretly ordered various parts through the mail.”
