As a nonpartisan group, we march to support science, because we value science and facts do matter. We will stand together against policies that silence, mischaracterize or restrict science. We oppose threats to eliminate public environmental agencies and censor scientists and instead advocate for scientific evidence-based policy decisions.

We invite all supporters of science, environmental protections and environmental justice to join us. Let’s work together! Let’s march together! Again.

This is a peaceful nonpartisan march.

Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches Opens in Lafayette

Last year we learned that the Seattle-based restaurant Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches would be opening in Lafayette where La Boulange Cafe used to be and they have now opened. Check out their menu here. I had an opportunity to try their Grass-Fed Steak & Bleu cheese sandwich, made with grass-fed tri-tip steak, pt. reyes farmstead bleu, caramelized onions, roasted garlic aioli & greens To me the pungent blue cheese really pulled everything together which made for one tasty sandwich. With their organic farm located in nearby Discovery Bay and a focus on fresh, seasonal cuisine, I look forward to trying out other salads, soups and sandwiches as summer approaches!

lucy Activewear Closing April 23rd in Danville

The activewear clothing store lucy will be closing its doors for good on April 23rd in Danville. An employee there mentioned that all lucy stores will be closing by the end of the year and be merged into North Face. Both stores are owned by the VF Corporation.

Preview of Impulse Room in Downtown Walnut Creek

Impulse Room, a new jazz club that we learned would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek is finally getting ready to open officially next Wednesday on April 26th (Groove Dragon) and is hosting a couple of Facebook-invite parties this Thursday (Sophisticated Ladies ) and Friday (Negative Press Project). If interested in attending one of these events go to their Facebook page here and reply to their post from April 15th with the details.

The inside features a wine and beer bar towards the front with a piano and performance area on the other side. On Dance Saturdays the floor will be open for dancing to jazz, as well as “upbeat blues, Swing, and modern jazz”. Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays will feature live jazz inspired music. There is a complimentary buffet from 5:30 to 7pm. To find out all the details including the dress code and cover charge etc. check out their About page here.

Apple Opening in New Broadway Plaza Spot in Walnut Creek

The writing has been on the wall for a while now that Apple would be relocating from their location next to Tiffany in downtown Walnut Creek to Broadway Plaza ever since we learned of a new building with glass walls that was proposed last year where California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks, Tesla and Yogasmoga used to be. The Broadway Plaza directory now lists the Apple Store as a new addition so it’s official. Apple is relocating to Broadway Plaza in a brand new building! With Amazon opening in the fall I’m glad to see some tech focused stores opening here.

Note, you can actually see the current Apple store in the background of the above photo so they won’t be moving far.
