The Veranda, Concord
San Diego-based Puesto, the “Mexican artisan kitchen & bar” is coming to the Veranda shopping center this summer, right next to the IMAX movie theater. Check out their menu at one of their other locations here.
From their website:
Before Puesto, we had all left San Diego to chase ambitions in other ventures. Though we found individual success in other places, it was tacos that brought us back together and back to California —Chef Luisteen’s tacos, to be exact. His passion for completely re –defining the taco brought us back to our hometown of San Diego to start a family business, the taco stand we’d never even dreamed of. Now we’re tacoteurs and have never looked back.

On Thursday January 11th, 2018, at approximately 6:15 PM, the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department received a call from the Walnut Creek Police Department regarding an attempted sexual assault that occurred on the Iron Horse Trail just south of Newell Avenue in Walnut Creek. East Bay Regional Park District Police Department responded to the area and immediately began searching for the suspect along with WCPD. A police K9 was utilized but was unsuccessful in locating the assailant.
According to the adult female victim, about 5:30 PM, she was walking from the Broadway Plaza area when a black male adult approached her from behind and assaulted her. This may be the worst flu season in the Bay Area in a decade according to this SFGate article and it’s pretty awful elsewhere as well. I’ve been noticing quite a few acquaintances getting sick and thoughts about flu are never far from my mind. Besides getting the flu shot, which apparently isn’t all that effective this season, I’ve been using hand sanitizer and washing my hands more than usual. I still worry though. Are you worried about getting the flu?
From the article:
In the Bay Area, urgent care centers, hospitals and doctors’ offices have seen a deluge of people with flu symptoms, including fever, body aches, fatigue, congestion and cough. Meanwhile, a few hospitals and pharmacies have reported running low on supplies of vaccine and antiviral medications, though the state said there are no shortages of any flu-related drugs.
