Spey Casting World Championship at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco April 21st – 22nd

Both members and the public are all invited to attend this event for free to watch the world’s best Spey Casters compete. Exhibitors will be set up around the ponds and there will be a lunch and a breakfast served for a nominal fee (free to competitors) on all three days. As in past years, there will be Men’s, Women’s, and Senior Divisions of competition. Registrants will have exclusive use of the ponds on Friday as a practice day and for the duration of the competition.

The Bloom Space Closing End of April in Danville

The Bloom Space, which relocated from Lafayette to Danville several years ago is packing up again and relocating to Sebastopol or possibly Petaluma. They also plan on offering DIY classes and sell handcrafted items when they reopen up north. Check out their website here.

Friday Question of the Day – How do you look for Tradespeople?

It seems like every other month I’m in need of some kind of tradesperson like plumber, electrician, etc. I usually look on Yelp or ask neighbors and have been generally satisfied with the results. How do you find tradepeople to work on things around the house or apartment?

Lemon Reopening in New Nearby Danville Location April 27th

Lemon, a shop featuring gifts, baby, home goods and more which opened last year as a popup shop, is returning to Danville down the block where Pelican Rock used to be on East Prospect, next to Locanda Ravello. Please join the Contra Costa County Bar Association and The League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley as they host a forum for the candidates running for the office of the Contra Costa County District Attorney. All candidates running for this office have been invited to attend.

Gail Murray, a long-time member of the League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley, a former Walnut Creek mayor and former BART director has been selected as the moderator for this free public event.

The format will include brief statements by the candidates and set questions from the moderator as well as the opportunity for the public to ask questions of the candidates. All questions will be screened for appropriateness.

Kona Ice Shaved Ice Truck Comes to Danville Farmers Market

Get your shaved ice from the new Kona Ice shaved ice truck at the Danville farmers market at Railroad & Prospect Ave. on Saturdays. They will be there at least through April. Check for updates on their Facebook page here. As you can see in the above photo, you add your own syrup near the bottom left of the truck. You can select multiple flavors but they don’t have straws, only spoons so eat it before it melts!

Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery Signage up at Danville Square

In December we learned about a new cupcake and ice cream shop called Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery coming to Danville Square where zpizza used to be and their signage is now up so hopefully they’ll be opening soon… Check out their menu here. According to their FAQ, they will also offer pupcakes, “made with carrot cake, pumpkin, soybean oil, peanut butter and buttercream. Our signature Pupcake is then topped with a real Milkbone training treat!”
