Samanntha demystifies various methods of irrigation that can save a great deal of water, including PVC, drip, wicking or self watering, olla pots, and gravity feed from barrels. Progress on Residual Sugar Wine Bar at The Veranda in Concord

Earlier this month we learned that Coffee Shop would be opening this summer in the Veranda shopping center in Concord and right next door, Residual Sugar Wine Bar, with their main location in downtown Walnut Creek, is progressing as well as you can see in these photos. There is a huge patio area on the side and the fountains in front of the IMAX theater are nearby so this is going to be a great spot to hang out once they open.

Civil War Days at Angel Island June 16th – 17th

Saturday, June 16th – Sunday June 17th, 2018

On June 16th and 17th, visitors are invited to explore the 1863 Union Army post at Camp Reynolds and become recruits to the Union Army, Try their hand at baking army bread and learning other soldierly skills.

There will be exciting mock battles between Union and Confederate forces each day by historic re-enactors and park volunteers on the parade ground.

Sculpture of the Day (Revisited, Again)

Progress on Roll House Specialty Rolls in Downtown Walnut Creek

In the beginning of May we learned of a new restaurant called Roll House Specialty Rolls opening in downtown Walnut Creek where Main Street Deli / Brass Bear Delicatessen used to be and it looks like they’re almost finished judging from a look inside. I couldn’t find any online presence yet…

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that The Art of Shaving is closing in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. Note that 40% off sign is only for those who join their “replenishment club“. I wonder if all the construction going on impacted their sales. Too bad they decided to close now because the Apple store is almost finished, the men’s clothing store UNTUCKit opened recently nearby, and another men’s clothing store, Bonobos is set to open nearby as well.
