Many of our most common kitchen herbs and spices are not only powerhouses in the medicinal world but easy to grow in the garden. We will cover the definition of herbal medicine, the basics of planning a pollinator-friendly herb garden, properties and uses of popular kitchen medicinals, and preserving herbs from the summer for use throughout the fall and winter. This workshop includes a demo on making herbal infused vinegar, and each participant will go home with a bottle of medicinal and culinary vinegar.

Join Reynolds as he talks about the global movement to curb man-made ocean noise. Whales dolphins, fish and other marine life are threatened by the endless industrial noise from shipping, seismic exploration and naval sonar. These animals can not get away from this barrage of noise and it’s harming and even killing whales, dolphins and other creatures in water bodies all around the world.

La Fiesta Square, Lafayette
Late last year we learned that The Shade Store would be coming to La Fiesta Square in Lafayette and they now plan on opening early April, possibly on April 5th. The storefront is particularly visible and bold at night as I’m sure people who drive by see. Check out their online gallery here.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Last month the children’s clothing store Janie and Jack was planning on closing at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek due to the bankruptcy of its owner Gymboree. However, it turns out that Gap bought Janie and Jack for $35 million and so it will remain open and continue to operate as a standalone brand according to this SF Chronicle article.

Last year over 130 groups participated in the parade. The theme of the parade is Women Breaking Barriers.
