La Fiesta Square, Lafayette

In addition to Urban Remedy juice bar coming to La Fiesta Square in downtown Lafayette, Washington D.C.-based Bluemercury skincare will also be opening across the square where the women’s clothing store Pendleton used to be.

From their website:

Barry and Marla Malcolm Beck are the founders and visionaries behind Bluemercury, Inc. In 1999, cosmetics could only be purchased at drugstores or department stores. As a recent graduate and working woman, Marla found less and less time to pursue her quest for products that would maintain glowing, healthy skin. Barry, a serial entrepreneur who had already started three businesses, saw an opportunity. Together, they created the first Bluemercury in Georgetown, Washington D.C. – the neighborhood store for beauty, where clients could find high quality, innovative beauty products and honest, expert advice.

We offer the world’s most innovative beauty products in a truly unique shopping experience. Bluemercury clients receive unparalleled technical product knowledge, expert advice and friendly service. Our teams would rather have clients leave the store with handfuls of samples, so that they can be sure to find products that work for them, rather than ever buy anything that is less than 100% right. Every day, we take hundreds of questions about skincare and makeup concerns and challenges. In addition to skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrance products, clients can be pampered by our skincare experts in our locations’ spas. Our spas are home to the ultimate results-oriented treatments, including our world renowned oxygen facials, glycolic peels, waxing and microdermabrasion.

Pietisserie Holiday Popup Pie Shop Opens in Downtown Lafayette

pietisserie-lafayette-outside
La Fiesta Square, Lafayette

In October the bakery Cake. closed in La Fiesta Square in Lafayette and now Oakland-based Pietisserie has opened a holiday popup shop through December 31st. Pietisserie recently appeared on the Cooking Channel show Unique Treats and is becoming more popular throughout the country; Check out photos of the inside and their menu after the jump. I talked with owner Jaynelle St. Jean who indicated that her favorite holiday pie is definitely the eggnog cream pie. I tried the grapefruit pie with some trepidation as I typically go for standard apple pie but this was seriously delicious. The real deal! Word has gotten around as they were already completely sold out when I dropped by so you may want to call in advance to see what’s available. I know I’ll be back. Who knows, they may end up staying in Lafayette permanently if things work out… They also offer Red Bay Coffee from Oakland.

From their website:

PieTisserie began after San Francisco native Jaynelle St. Jean staged a window of her mother’s home as an iconic country window, with homemade pies set out to cool. Compelled to create her own small town in the city, she gave away slices to passersby willing to eat with neighbors. Jaynelle launched PieTisserie, making it her mission to fill the need for unique and delicious pies, and to remind people of the importance of pleasant surprises close to home via her Random Acts of Sweetness.
