Last week we learned that Ray-Ban would be taking over the Apex sunglasses store in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they have now opened. Considering they are both owned by the Italian eyewear company Luxottica I’m not surprised they opened so quickly. Looks like Oakley just couldn’t compete with the allure of the iconic brand Ray-Ban. In fact, I realized after entering the store to browse I myself was wearing a pair of Ray-Bans which one of the employees kindly offered to clean for me. If you’re looking for Ray-Ban glasses this is the place to check out!

APEX by Sunglass Hut opened in the initial phase (late 2015) of the Broadway Plaza redevelopment next to Macy’s and they are going to become a Ray-Ban store. Both brands are owned by the Italian eyewear company Luxottica, and APEX also carried Ray-Ban.

Last year the San Francisco-based, Paris-inspired clothing store Les Lunes opened in Broadway Plaza next to the fountain and they recently relocated to a much larger spot where Kit and Ace used to be. Check out their collection here.

Yet more new art in downtown Walnut Creek. For those who miss the sculptures in Broadway Plaza, it’s good to see a hummingbird taking off.

From their website:
Our products contain pure ingredients from nature that are environmentally friendly and support the body’s natural functions. We always use 100% pure, plant derived essential oils that are sourced and distilled from all over the world—wherever the most potent species of beneficial flowers, fruits, leaves and trees grow naturally and sustainably.
We are also proud of the fact that our products are free of parabens, petrochemicals, synthetic colors and artificial fragrances. Look closely at each product label, as everything contained in a product is clearly listed. We stand behind our ingredient choices and have nothing to hide.

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Kit and Ace is closing all US locations. Sure enough, the Broadway Plaza Kit and Ace, which only opened at the end of 2015, is closed. That sure was fast. Usually you see sales for some time to get rid of inventory but the inside looked like a fully stocked store!

The writing has been on the wall for a while now that Apple would be relocating from their location next to Tiffany in downtown Walnut Creek to Broadway Plaza ever since we learned of a new building with glass walls that was proposed last year where California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks, Tesla and Yogasmoga used to be. The Broadway Plaza directory now lists the Apple Store as a new addition so it’s official. Apple is relocating to Broadway Plaza in a brand new building! With Amazon opening in the fall I’m glad to see some tech focused stores opening here.
Note, you can actually see the current Apple store in the background of the above photo so they won’t be moving far.

Last September we learned that Old Navy would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they have now opened across from GAP. I believe this is the first time Old Navy has opened anywhere in Walnut Creek.
