Blackhawk Plaza, Danville
A couple of years ago Blackhawk Burger opened in Blackhawk Plaza in Danville and now San Francisco-based Beep’s Burgers will be opening in this spot soon. A few years ago Beep’s in San Francisco got a new owner according to this interesting article from The Ingleside-Excelsior Light. Has anyone eaten at Beep’s? Check out the San Francisco menu here. I look forward to trying this place out!
From the Blackhawk Plaza directory:
Back before man sky rocketed to the moon, Beep’s Burgers was already serving San Francisco with it’s unique food. Established in 1962, we have been dedicated to serving the best burgers along with a wide variety of dishes. Stop by soon at our new Blackhawk location and try it out for yourself!
1005 Brown Ave, Lafayette
Thanks to all who sent word about this… Yesterday was the last day (eight years in total) for the California French restaurant Artisan Bistro in Lafayette as they focus on their Peruvian restaurant LiMA at Todos Santos Plaza in Concord. An employee pointed out that some Artisan Bistro influences may eventually be included at LiMA.
18080 San Ramon Valley Blvd, San Ramon
Thanks to a reader for sending word that the Mexican restaurant Chevy’s closed in San Ramon near Bollinger Canyon Rd. and San Ramon Valley Blvd. According to sign in the window check out their Emeryville and Union City locations if you miss them.
Plaza Escuela, Walnut Creek
It’s been a while waiting for Pizza My Heart to replace Project Pie in Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek but they are now planning to open next month sometime in April. Check out their menu here.
Crow Canyon Commons, San Ramon
Last summer, Dos Coyotes Border Cafe, the Sacramento-based restaurant featuring Mexican and southwestern cuisine opened in the Willows Shopping Center in Concord and they will be opening in a new spot this spring in Crow Canyon Commons in San Ramon. Check out their menu here.
1501 N. Broadway, Walnut Creek
I noticed new signage up at the upcoming jazz club and lounge Impulse Room that we learned would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek. According to their Facebook page “it looks like 2 1/2 weeks of construction and however long it will take to get final inspections.” Find out more about the club and wine/beer bar at their website here. On there it notes an April opening. Stay tuned…
Orchards Shopping Center, Walnut Creek
Last summer we learned that Southern California-based Burger Lounge would be coming to the Orchards shopping center in Walnut Creek and they will be opening the last week of March. Check out their menu here. Grass-fed beef hamburger for $7.99. That seems reasonable, I look forward to trying this place out.
1550 Olympic Blvd, Walnut Creek
Well, that was fast! Thanks to everyone who sent word that the Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant (and food truck) Koja Kitchen would be opening yesterday in downtown Walnut Creek where Citra Grill used to be. Although the Walnut Creek menu is not available yet check out their other location menus here. Looks great, what are the must-order dishes?
From their website:
What is a KoJa?
KoJa (aka Korean-Japanese) is a special gourmet sandwich infused with a unique combination of Korean & Japanese flavors. To step it up a notch, KoJa Kitchen substitutes the traditional wheat buns with freshly made crispy garlic rice buns.
We take what is best of both cuisines and reinvent them in a way that is fun and delicious to eat for our KoJa Kitchen fans.
2nd Ave. & N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Plans are in the works for In-N-Out Burger to come to the corner of 2nd Ave. and Main St. in Walnut Creek where Devil Mountain Cyclery used to be. According to this East Bay Times article, the development will include a “new Starbucks, and upgrades to an existing building currently housing Masses Sports Bar & Grill and several offices.” In the above photo you can see the Masses Sports Bar building in the background. The article points out that the Starbucks “would have no indoor seating and be accessible through a separate drive-through and walk-up window”.
I look forward to a closer In-N-Out but worry about the additional traffic.
