In June, we learned that Bay Area-based Japanese gourmet rice balls (aka onigiri) restaurant ONIGILLY would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek with an expected August opening, but obviously that’s not happened yet. The “Coming Soon” signage is now up, so hopefully it’ll open this year. Check out their menu here.

Boba café Sinceretea, which opened a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. Their San Jose location remains open. I enjoyed their red velvet flavored egg puffs.

Burma Unique, which opened a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. You can still get Burmese food in downtown Walnut Creek a few blocks away at Burma 2.

In May, we learned that Third Culture Bakery, makers of the famous Mochi Muffin, would be opening a new location in downtown Walnut Creek at Main Street Plaza, and their signage is now up. Check out their menu here.

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
After almost nine years, the ice cream shop Häagen-Dazs is going to make a triumphant return to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek where GODIVA used to be! Thanks to a reader for sending word about this. 🍦

Park ‘N’ Shop, Concord
An “authentic Taiwanese individual hotpot and boba tea” restaurant called Tasty Pot is coming soon to a newly remodeled section in the Park ‘N’ Shop in Concord. Check out their menu here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that the salad restaurant sweetgreen is coming to downtown Walnut Creek where Z Gallerie used to be. This location will be split in two, with sweetgreen taking up the front section near Locust St. Check out their menu here.
