Thanks to a reader for sending:
Within the last two weeks we’ve noticed that three telephone poles have been erected on both sides of Highway I-680 with some form of netting suspended from both sides. This is just before the turnoff for Rudgear Road.
There have been other emails asking what’s going on as well, anyone know?

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
The cookware store Sur La Table is getting an interior remodel in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and by moving their stockroom upstairs will be offering cooking classes beginning in September. Look for the remodeled section inside to open the first week of August. It’s been a few years since downtown Walnut Creek offered a place for dedicated cooking classes. Viking Home Chef used to offer cooking classes on the second floor but that closed several years ago (now occupied by Destination Maternity).

A new exhibit called Botanica: All Things Plant Life opened this week at the Bedford Gallery in downtown Walnut Creek through September 6th.
From the exhibit website:
From 16th Century Flemish painters, to Cézanne and the Post Impressionists, the color and variety found in plant life, as well as the potent symbolism, has made it a popular subject for still-lifes and artist studies. Botanica asks artists to draw on these themes to create artwork that explores how plant life can be represented in a diverse reach of media.
Botanica is a National Juried Exhibition and was juried by Ken Harman of Hashimoto Contemporary and Spoke Art, San Francisco, CA and MacKenzie Stevens of the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA.
