Our newt adventure is a gentle 2.5 mile hike to three different ponds in Briones Regional Park, Martinez. Bring water and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes and layers of clothes. Map and directions will be emailed after registration completed. Hike will not be cancelled due to weather (bring rain gear if needed).

Crews were out Tuesday morning replacing all of the trash cans in downtown Walnut Creek.
Out are the green circular ones… in are the solar powered ones that only open in front… & compact the trash every hour or so. There are also new recycling bins.
Alamo Plaza Shopping Center

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Maggieray’s Barbecue closed in Alamo late last year. As you can see in the above photo, this is the location where Lamorinda Pizza will be opening. According to their Facebook page expect a late February or early March opening. This is directly across from the Alamo ACE Hardware on Danville Blvd.

If I saw this graffiti tag in San Francisco, Oakland, or other large city I wouldn’t give it a second thought. But when I spotted this on the recently vacated Crogan’s Bar & Grill in downtown Walnut Creek I did a double take. I guess this is to be expected as Walnut Creek becomes more urban.
