Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Schroder Insurance relocated to Martinez after being in downtown Walnut Creek for 85 years. I passed by there so many times and appreciated the miniature fire engines on display. This surely must have been one of the oldest businesses in downtown Walnut Creek.

$12Nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe and by BAFTA, “Capernaum” is this month’s foreign language feature film at Mountain Shadow. It won the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2018. Lebanon-born Nadine Labaki directed the film and wrote the screenplay.
The film explores the abusive childhood of Zain who, by the age of 12, is in prison for a violent crime. He is released to pursue a lawsuit against his parents for “wrongful life.” “I wish I had never been born” has never been so true for him. It has been called “the most heart-wrenching but beautiful film I’ve ever seen.”

Thanks to everyone who sent word that Momo’s has closed in downtown Walnut Creek after being open for only two years in this spot. I’m going to really miss their Big Ass fan! Their San Francisco location remains open. Does anyone miss McCovey’s which used to be here?
