The Veranda, Concord
As you can see from the above photo the Barnes & Noble signage is up at the Veranda shopping center in Concord. Although the property manager mentioned a scheduled April opening this month, when I looked inside they’re still working on the flooring and it’s completely empty inside so they’re going to have to hurry up to get this open this month. With Yard House restaurant opening at the end of the month I shudder to thinking about the parking situation in this area…

As Bangkok Kitchen closed last month, so too, does Woung Luang around the corner this month probably due to the the Shops at Todos Santos sale a couple of years ago in Concord resulting in Half Price Books leaving as well.
The Veranda, Concord
Last fall we learned that the Korean bbq place in a cup, Ko Cups would be opening in the Veranda shopping center in Concord and they will be officially opening this Saturday, March 16th. On that opening day they, “will offer a free regular fountain beverage on March 16 with every entrée cup purchase.”
From a PR:
From the start, their goal has been to make tasty yet reasonably priced Korean food, served in a bowl. Each Ko-Cup starts off with a base of rice, crispy lettuce, japchae noodles and a protein selection. Next comes a topping of extra-sweet corn, slices of sweet pickled yellow radish and black sesame seeds. The final touch is a choice of several homemade sauces, such as mayo-mustard, mayo-gochujang (hot pepper) and hot gochujang.
Willows Shopping Center, Concord
Any Mountain is closing next month on April 22nd in the Willows shopping center in Concord. When I visited over the weekend everything was at least 20% off as far as I could tell. This will leave Willows with one outdoor recreation store, REI. Any Mountain will also be closing their Roseville location.
Willows Shopping Center, Concord
The Italian restaurant MidiCi opened recently at the Willows shopping center in Concord. Check out their pizza menu here and appetizer menu here. Interestingly, there is a living tree in the middle of the restaurant, “a symbol of tradition and a witness of eras gone by”.
1500 Monument Blvd, Concord
A new Mexican restaurant called Taqueria Mariscos opened several month ago in Concord on Monument Blvd.
2115 Pacheco St, Concord
Last fall we learned that the vegetarian restaurant Lettuce Inn would be relocating around the block in Concord and they have now reopened still right near Todos Santos Plaza. As you can see from the photo below the inside is a lot more spacious and looks great. Check out the Lettuce Inn menu here and find out more about The Lettuce Inn here.

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Half Price Books will be closing early May in Concord across from Todos Santos plaza according to the East Bay Times. Last week we learned that they may be relocating within Concord, possibly in the Willows shopping center and according to the Times article there are, “six letters of intent out for various spaces but no leases signed yet”. Every time I’ve visited it’s always crowded and lively so I hope they reopen in Concord! Considering the shops who left for Veranda, and Barnes & Noble opening there as well, Half Price Books would be a great addition to Willows who will bring in more shoppers there.
