Sad news that PRIMA Ristorante, open for 43 years, is permanently closing in downtown Walnut Creek due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the bright side, the wine shop next door, PRIMA Vini will remain open. Check out their online shop here.
From their closing announcement:
As you well know, the COVID pandemic has wreaked havoc throughout the entire restaurant community, and since our mandatory closure in early March, Chef Peter and I, after 21 years together as friends and colleagues, 15 of them as partners, have looked high and low for a path forward- a way to get PRIMA Ristorante back to its accustomed role of bringing its unique sense of Italian hospitality to the good people of Walnut Creek. Alas, though, it appears that events have conspired against us. The longer the restaurant has been closed, the harder it has been to find a way to successfully reopen. We’ve finally come to the realization that we won’t.
271 Lafayette Circle, Lafayette
After eight years, Back to the Table Cooking School has closed in Lafayette. The production kitchen on the second floor will remain open with a new name.
From their Facebook page:
We were all set with a full spring schedule and almost sold out summer camps…until COVID-19 hit. After some real soul searching over the last 5 months, as well as the uncertainty of when we could reopen; Leslie and I are very sad to say that we have decided to close our cooking school permanently, effective immediately. However, we are happy to announce the new owner will continue the Production Kitchen under their own name.
Over the last few days, the number of coronavirus infections has reached triple digits in Contra Costa and even higher around the country, so, many places have unfortunately had to pause their reopenings. With so many restaurants opening outside on patios, in the streets etc, do you find it hard to walk around while still maintaining the recommended six feet social distancing?
The consignment store Main Street Rags is relocating within downtown Walnut Creek to a spot next to Lettuce, at 1561 Civic Dr, according to a sign in their window. Look for a mid July opening.
