In February we learned that the women’s clothing store Free People would be relocating to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and as you can see in the above photo the signage is up and they will be opening in May. Check out the their website here.

Orinda Restaurant Tour May 1st in Orinda Theatre District

On check in, each guest will receive a free glass of wine from Lamorinda Winegrowers Association sponsored by PG&E. Appetizers will be provided at the check-in location by several local restaurants including Genuine Goodness and Moraga based Town Bakery. Entertainment will be provided by the Miramonte Jazz band at check-in, and another jazz group will perform near the fountain. Orinda Idol competitors will be singing across the street from Piccolo Napoli.
Patrons will receive tickets to sample food at 14 different restaurants just steps away. Participants include Casa Orinda, Fourth Bore, Cine Cuvee, Republic of Cake, Piccolo Napoli and Taverna Pelligrini. Joining up this year is Saffron Indian Restaurant and Bar, opening soon in the space formerly occupied by Magnolia. Saffron is a family-run business; the family had two restaurants on the East Coast before moving to Orinda.

Bambu Coming Soon to The Vineyard in Concord

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Bambu, a cafe featuring Asian inspired drinks and desserts is coming soon to the Vineyard shopping center (Kmart and Lucky) in Concord. Check out their drinks menu here. These drinks look really interesting, I look forward to trying some of them like #4 Summer Delight made with red tapioca, mung bean, coconut milk, jello, grass jelly & pandan jelly.

Check out the Outdoor Workout Equipment at Civic Park in Walnut Creek

Thanks to a reader for sending word that new, outdoor workout equipment is now available at Civic Park in Walnut Creek. It’s located right near the bridge that leads to the parking lot. There are no chains or gears which is why it can be left in the open from what I can tell. When I tried it didn’t provide much resistance but maybe I wasn’t doing it correctly. Has anyone used this yet?

Late last year we learned that Poke Bar would be coming to another downtown Walnut Creek spot, this time at Plaza Escuela, and their signage is now up.
