The bar Urban Alley opened last summer in downtown Walnut Creek but they have been “closed for maintenance” for quite a while now and both their Facebook and Instagram pages are not displaying. The Yelp page indicates a November 26th reopening but why would they deactivate their social media pages if they’re planning to reopen? Anyone know what’s going on?

$18 – $30On a bleak Christmas Eve, in a marshy churchyard, an escaped convict grabs a young lad at knife point, and his life is forever altered. In Gale Childs Daly’s high energy adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, Great Expectations, six quick-changing actors portray dozens of characters as we follow our young hero’s coming-of-age journey — through love and loss, revenge and redemption — as he comes to realize his great expectations.

The Japanese restaurant Kurumi is under new ownership (again) in downtown Walnut Creek. Everything looked the same as I walked by recently but noticed the soft opening sign on the window. Employees confirmed the change in ownership and pointed out the menu is new. Check it out here.

After OI-C Bowl closed earlier this year in downtown Walnut Creek, Siam Fine Thai Cuisine opened in its place. Check out their menu here. However, they’ll be closing after Thanksgiving and a Dublin-based Burmese restaurant will be opening in its place. Stay tuned… Has there ever been a Burmese restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek?
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Over the summer we learned that the St. Louis-based women’s catalog retailer Soft Surroundings would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they’ll be opening this Friday, November 2nd. Check out their online catalog here.
