In the spring we learned that Oakland-based German-inspired beer garden and restaurant Bierhaus would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek where Lark Creek used to be and their Coming Soon signage is now up. Look for an October opening. Check out their food menu here and beer menu here.
The Veranda, Concord
Thanks to a reader for pointing out that another Brazilian steakhouse is coming to Concord, this time to The Veranda. It’s called Texas de Brazil and their menu is here. Note the above photo is not necessarily the actual restaurant location.

Texas de Brazil began with a dream in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Enjoying the rancher’s life and feasting in the rodizio style native to the region, one of our partners had visions of bringing churrasco culture north to the United States. He wanted to share this unique way of dining where guests indulge in a parade of meats and extravagant seasonal salad area.
The destination for this restaurant was none other than cattle country…Texas. After all, the traditional steakhouse of Brazil blends perfectly with the service and class of the Lone Star State.
Clayton Valley Shopping Center, Concord

Up the Creek Records, which opened a couple of years ago at Tice Valley Plaza in Walnut Creek recently started carrying skateboards. This is a really fun, locally owned shop with plenty of interesting merchandise besides albums. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area.

The first independent skate shop to open in Walnut Creek in 20 years, Up The Creek is not your typical skate shop. They are hoping to welcome everyone to the sport, especially beginner skaters, girl skaters, LGBTQ skaters as well as creaky-kneed old skaters. It is with a heavy heart that we announce Flywheel Sports Walnut Creek is officially closing on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Over these last few years, you enabled us to build a strong and thriving community of riders and we could not be more thankful. Twin Canyon Shopping Center, San Ramon
In the spring we learned that Round Table Clubhouse would be opening where Giuseppe’s used to be at the Twin Canyon Shopping Center in San Ramon and they have now opened. In addition to an arcade this location has an 18-tap self-pour beer wall which looks pretty darn cool. Check out their menu here.
