A new drawing studio for children called A Colorful Mind recently opened its doors in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek at 1341 N. Main St. in the passageway where the women’s boutique Norf London is located. As you’re walking down N. Main St. towards Neiman Marcus, turn right right before the Rochester Big & Tall clothing store in the covered passageway and it will be on your right, a few stores down.
Classes are age appropriate, from a “Getting Ready – Drawing Through the Alphabets & Geography” for younger kids to “Drawing Fundamentals” for kids 8 & up. You may register online here.
The inside of the studio looks really well designed and neat. So if you have kids I would defintely recommend checking this studio out. If anyone has been already please chime in and let us know how it is.

Decors De France is a cute little shop selling imported French goods such as soaps, bags and little gifts, located in Broadway Plaza right next to Nordstrom. It use to be La Lavande. Has anyone shopped here? I’ve passed by a million times admiring the storefront which is always nicely decorated.
Has anyone else noticed these metal flaps on the Neiman Marcus building in Walnut Creek? Is this a design flourish or will it serve an actual purpose?
Liliana Castellanos is a small boutique women’s clothing store located at 1414 N Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek next to Sasa restaurant that has been in business for the past 3 years. True to its name, this boutique offers fashionable clothing from the South American designer Liliana Castellanos as well as other designers. In addition to clothing, they also carry handbags and other fashion items. Prices range from $65 to $900.
Master Diamond, located at 1372 N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek, across the street from Adib’s Persian Rug store, has closed. According to the sign in the window they have been in business since 1985 so it looks like they have been there for over 25 years.
Str8 Edge Barbershop, located at 1626 Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek, may be the only barbershop in town that is also a clothing store. To find it you need to walk through the Locust Street Mall walkway anchored by a travel agency and a salon. Check out the photos below:
Turns out my old barber from another Walnut Creek barbershop, who I wondered what happened about, has been here for two years now. Personally, I’m glad I found my old barber finally as I was always happy with the haircuts he gave.

Yesterday’s Treasures, a new consignment store recently opened in Lafayette about 2 weeks ago. It’s located at 996 Moraga Rd. next to Squirrels Coffee Shop and focuses on larger items like sofas and furniture but also offers smaller items as can be seen by the photo below:
This is their 3rd store; the other stores are located in Antioch and Brentwood. From their website:
