This week we learned that the clothing boutique Scout & Molly’s will be coming to downtown Walnut Creek, right next to another boutique, jinny. Another boutique featuring both women’s and men’s clothing is Atlas & Athena (seen in the above photo). Danville has Stone Cold Luxe and Pelican Rock. In Lafayette there’s Venture.
What’s your favorite fashion boutique?
Driving on I-680 in Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville down to San Ramon one can see the coming FasTrak toll Express Lane signs sprouting up. According to the 511.org website, these lanes are free for carpools and motorcycles but will charge a dynamic fee for solo drivers based on the amount of traffic.
Do you support the expansion of these toll lanes?

With the tax deadline approaching on April 18th now is the time to get one’s tax forms in order and submitted. In the past I’ve had accountants file my taxes and recently started using an online program to do my taxes which is surprisingly convenient to use. Do you do your own taxes or do you have an accountant do them?

As I get older I feel the effects of having been in loud situations throughout my life, be it concerts, football games, parties etc. so now I carry ear plugs with me to preserve what hearing I have left. Not only do I worry about hearing loss for myself but even more for my kids hearing. Hearing loss is cumulative so kids have no idea what is in store for them as they get older. I’ve been to elementary school dances that have been so loud I was left aghast, especially considering nobody seemed to care. These days I occasionally use a sound meter app on my phone to check the decibel rating.
Do you feel like certain events are too loud? If so how do you handle it?
This week I visited the RSA security expo at the Moscone Center in San Francisco where I saw so many companies promoting security products I was left amazed. That place is huge! Earlier this week I also made this blog more secure as well (see the Secure lock at top in the address bar).
That got me wondering how many people have personally been hacked. Has your email, Facebook etc ever been hacked? How did you recover? What steps did you take so it won’t happen again? I always enable an additional option (when offered) when I sign-in by getting a code via text message etc and so far haven’t had problems (knock on wood).

Last month we learned that Amazon Books is coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. There was some disagreement as to whether this is a good thing or not since Amazon is the reason many bookstores have gone out of business. Are you glad Amazon is opening bookstore in Walnut Creek or do you resent that they have caused so much upheaval in the book industry?
Yesterday we saw how the rain has been helping make the Lamorinda trail waterfall in Moraga flow nicely. I pass this waterfall all the time when running so it’s become a common scene for me. Another favorite spot for me is Lamorinda’s greatest tree swing in Lafayette Community Park.

With everything going on in the news lately, as well as the candy store Zoonie’s opening this week in Lafayette, I think now is an appropriate time to discuss candy. As a young kid I dreamed about getting cotton candy at the fair or ball game. Anything with chocolate and peanut butter is great like Reese’s cups. Although now I’d prefer a Recchiuti peanut butter puck. What is your favorite candy?

This week has brought a deluge of rain which is great for reservoirs and plant life but has anyone encountered fallen trees or lost power? My neighbor said he heard large tree branches falling early mornings and I heard plenty of thunder and brownouts but so far it hasn’t been too bad for me thankfully.
