337 Rheem Blvd, Moraga
Earlier this month we learned that home/made kitchen cafe & bakery would be opening soon in Moraga near 24 Fitness and they have now opened. I dropped by recently and tried their Chef’s Scramble (2 eggs, spinach, bacon, goat cheese), served with fruit and potatoes and it was delicious, as was their fig scone, yum! There is plenty of space both inside and out and the warm, natural lighting is a nice complement to the cozy atmosphere. For now they’re open for breakfast, brunch and lunch until 2pm with their coffee bar open until 4pm on weekdays. Check out their website here.
Check out photos of the inside including a closeup of the chef’s scramble and menus…
Corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. & S. California Blvd, Walnut Creek
Back in May we learned that a bank would be opening in the old Marie Callender’s location in downtown Walnut Creek next to Genova Deli and the signage for BBVA Compass bank is now up. Word was that a cafe may open in part of this space and if you look at the far left in the above photo there is actually a small separate space that looks like could possibly be a spot for a cafe. Stay tuned…

Fall season games will be on Wednesday nights at 6:45PM and 7:45PM at Heather Farms Park Field #3.
After the games we replenish our electrolytes at our team bar! This season our team bar is Blu42!
This is where we get to rehash plays, flaunt our awesomeness, and oh yeah, party.
If you’re not yet convinced why you should head to the team bar after our game, here are two more reasons:
1. Bragging rights to non-ballers
2. An excuse to drink on a Wednesday
3422 Mt Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
Thanks to a reader for sending word that a new barbecue restaurant called Bonehead’s Texas BBQ will be opening in the Bo’s Barbecue location in Lafayette that we learned was closing back in April. They have doing catering for several years and this looks to be their first restaurant. Check out their catering menu here and Facebook page here. Stay tuned…
From their website:
All of our products are prepared fresh daily… well most of them. The cole slaw, tater salad and other salads are. But our meats take days to prepare even before they’re cooked. You see, we use rubs on our meats that we allow to soak in for up to 72 hours before they’re placed in the smoker. That’s what makes Bonehead’s different – we’re slow – low and slow smokin’. We use wood fired smokers only – no natural gas or charcoal. We believe natural gas and charcoal leave a flavor that isn’t compatible to tasty food.

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Last month we learned that Inspirato, a luxury destination club would be opening in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and they have now opened. The photos in this post are from their Denver showroom which should be identical to the Walnut Creek location.
From a press release:
To help visitors imagine what it would be like to vacation with the club, the experience center will include recreations of great rooms from Inspirato’s Costero Signature Residence in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and its Eagle’s Nest Signature Residence in Vail, Colorado. Other features include touchscreens for browsing the club’s large and growing destination portfolio and a special kids’ area to help even the littlest travelers begin to dream about their next family vacation.
The Broadway Plaza member experience center will also serve as a clubhouse of sorts for the more than 500 Bay Area-based Inspirato members, where they can meet face-to-face with their own Personal Vacation Advisors, explore destinations for their next Inspirato vacation and attend special members-only events.

The Castro is definitely worth visiting! Sprout Shopping Center, Walnut Creek
A couple of week ago we learned that The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf would be opening very soon in the Sprouts shopping center in Walnut Creek at the corner of Geary Blvd. and N. Main St. and they have now opened. It’s very bright and airy inside thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. This was my first time at a Coffee Bean & Tea leaf cafe and my Chai ice blended drink tasted great! I’m glad there is a another choice around town compared to the ubiquitous Starbucks and Peet’s. One interesting difference I noticed are the honey stick sweeteners sitting right out where the napkins are, free to use with drinks. How cool is that?!
The only downside is I had to circle the parking lot three times to find a 30 minute spot; if I lived within walking distance or could drop by in the evenings when it’s less crowded I’d be here more often.

Last month I noted that construction had begun in downtown Walnut Creek on the the new Uniqlo store and construction is proceeding apace as signs surround the store announcing an October 24th opening.
Interestingly, it looks like they reused the San Francisco store sign template:
FROM TOKYO TO SAN FRANCISCO
🙂
