Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Although I haven’t seen this announced yet, thanks to a reader for pointing out that according to the Broadway Plaza Redevelopment web page, the island-lifestyle clothing store “Tommy Bohama” is coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek so it looks like they may be relocating from their nearby store on Mt. Diablo Blvd. next to Va de Vi.

From the Walnut Creek PD:

Thompsonia! Eric, Suzy & Allegra Thompson, Blue Diamond Strings:
Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse
2020 Addison St, Berkeley
Sunday, January 31, 2016
7:00pm | $24Bridging the past and the future of the Bay Area’s roots music scene, this show features Thompsonia – Eric & Suzy Thompson (Any Old Time, Black Mountain Boys, Blue Flame String Band, Texas Sheiks, California Cajun Orchestra, etc. etc.) have joined forces with their daughter, Allegra (Midnite Ramblers, Wendy Burch Steele Band, Drifter Sisters) and are releasing a CD that’s different from Eric & Suzy’s other recordings – Thompsonia is an entertaining mix of originals, rockabilly, and hokum blues, featuring the genetically matched voices of the mother-daughter team of Suzy and Allegra.

If you’re going to the East Bay Comic Con this Sunday in Concord then you won’t want to miss this fun, new exhibit at the Bedford Gallery in downtown Walnut Creek. Called, My Hero! Contemporary Art & Superhero Action, there are wall-to-wall art displays of superheroes as imagined by contemporary artists from around the country.
From the exhibit website:
Every generation needs a hero, an idol who destroys the bad guy, protects the innocent, saves the day – and even occasionally the world. Through the eyes of contemporary artists, My Hero! explores the enigmatic and iconic world of superheroes, and the staying power of the extraordinary characters that inhabit this astonishing dream. We are thrilled to announce that after its debut at the Bedford Gallery, My Hero! will travel nationally for three years.

More photos of the exhibit after the jump…

Yesterday it felt good to get a parking pet peeve off my chest. Now take a look at the photo above for another one. This photo was taken at Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek and involves two more parking pet peeves. The signage notes “small vehicles only” and as you can see the larger car takes up two spaces. However, why doesn’t the city just repaint the lines for normal-sized cars? This lot is a stone’s throw away from City Hall so I’m sure they must be aware of this. The photo was taken almost three years ago.
What’s your pet peeve? You can also send an email to questions[at]beyondthecreek.com if you’d like to see your pet peeve or issue added in a future post.
