Blackhawk Plaza, Danville
The liquid nitrogen-based, made-on-demand ice cream shop Creamistry, that we learned last summer would be coming to Blackhawk Plaza in Danville, has now opened. Their official grand opening will be this Saturday, June 16th. For a detailed menu click here.

The men’s clothing store Bonobos is coming to Broadway Plaza where Skin|17 used to be near Macy’s, according to the latest city permit information. Check out their online store here. This comes a day after we learned that the children’s clothing store Monica + Andy closed right across from this location. It turns out that the founder of Monica + Andy is the sister of Bonobos founder Andy Dunn. Before Skin|17, another men’s clothing store, Ministry of Supply, used to be here.
From their website:
We started Bonobos because we couldn’t find pants that fit. They were either way too tight or too boxy. We fixed it. Now we’ve expanded our playbook to shirts and suits. Schedule a one-hour appointment at one of our Guideshop locations. Try on anything you like and have a cold one from the fridge. A knowledgeable Guide will walk you through the entire Bonobos line and help you find your perfect fit. A Guide will place your order and it will be shipped directly to your home or office. Walk out with your hands free.

As summer approaches, reading lists abound such as 5 books worth reading this summer as recommended by Bill Gates or 73 books to read while the sun is out from the NY Times. One of the books on the Gates list, Factfulness, can even be downloaded for free for new college graduates. As a longtime Mets and Seinfeld fan I’d like to check out I’m Keith Hernandez. What do you look forward to reading this summer?
Lafayette Mercantile
Last year Philz Coffee opened in downtown Walnut Creek and this year they’ll be coming to Lafayette where Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches used to be in the Lafayette Mercantile shopping center. They are currently hiring a store leader here. Check out their store menu here.
