Thanks to a reader for sending word that Açaí-Me Superfoods Café recently had a soft-opening in the Danville Livery in downtown Danville with the grand opening scheduled for March. Check out their menu here. I tried the Monkey Bowl and thought it was great. One difference I noticed compared to Vitality Bowls is they blend the acai with kale and flax. Check out a photo of the inside below. There is also a TV in the corner of the store.

Last year back in September I posted about the pop-up store Toss Designs opening in Broadway Plaza next to Nordstrom and unfortunately they will be closing this location at the end of January. Their San Francisco location on 2185 Chestnut St. is open so you can still check them out there. Check out their website here.
1035 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill
A bit late but the independent record store Rasputin Music & DVDs opened at the corner of Contra Costa Blvd. and Taylor Blvd. in Pleasant Hill back in August. They left their previous Concord location due to Hobby Lobby taking over this spot. I dropped by recently and it’s much larger than I imagined. Very interesting place. A Massage Envy franchise is opening in the Rheem shopping center in Moraga, “coming soon”.
The Bedford Gallery, located within the Lesher Center for the Arts in downtown Walnut Creek is hosting a bright new exhibit called New Neon: Light, Paint & Photography through February 23rd, 2014. Admission is $5 but is free the first Tuesday of the month.

To brighten our winter days, the Bedford welcomes New Neon. Taking its cue from the re-emerging popularity of this distinctly Californian medium, New Neon will examine the ways in which neon has been repurposed— in both painterly and sculptural practices—to reflect the cadence and drama of our media-saturated cultural landscape.
This was a really fun exhibit to walk around with dazzling neon artwork throughout.

Summit Museum Mount Diablo State Park

What do they eat? How do they survive the heat? And when do they breed? These and many other questions will be answered by Naturalist Michael Marchiano. Meet a salamander up close. The presentation will be from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM in the Audio Visual Room at the Summit.
