1411 Locust St, Walnut Creek
The popular LA street food style restaurant 310 Eatery that opened last year around the corner in downtown Walnut Creek and a few months later moved into Redux Lounge on Locust St. closed last month. However, according to an email received from the owner of 310 Eatery, they have plans to reopen in one or more new locations in Alameda, Oakland and Walnut Creek by February, 2016. I hope 310 Eatery reopens somewhere in Walnut Creek!

I’m a 20+ year resident of Pleasant Hill, a dad, husband, and soccer coach/referee. My family is helping to raise awareness about the upcoming sale of the Oak Park Elementary School Site. Contra Costa County will soon decide whether to sell it to private real estate developers, or to the Pleasant Hill Parks and Recreation Department. Parks and Rec want to develop the site as a multi-use open space, with sports fields, running trails, and as a flood basin for the area. We are encouraging the County to sell to Parks and Rec.
I started a Facebook page to raise awareness, and to encourage Contra Costa residents to sign this petition, started by another local resident.

When winter comes around and things start to cool down, I start getting a hankering for seafood for some reason. The Walnut Creek Yacht Club is an obvious choice for seafood that I enjoy. Chilled Dungeness crab is a favorite of mine, although not this year unfortunately. What is your favorite seafood restaurant? What is your favorite seafood dish?

Last week we learned that the French restaurant Chevalier will be closing this month in Lafayette and now Diablo Dish reports that a new restaurant called RÊVE Bistro will soon be opening in this spot, and according to the latest on their Facebook page they plan on opening next month in January.

It’s been a couple of years but the Danish shoe store Ecco is back at a new location next to Macy’s in Broadway Plaza. Previously they were located on the backside of Broadway Plaza so they should be getting a lot more foot traffic now.
Following up from today’s Rheem Elementary School lockdown…
From the Moraga PD:
Today, at 12:35 p.m., the Moraga Police Department received a telephone report requesting a welfare check of a resident on Donald Drive. The resident was upset over personal issues and had made suicidal threats.
Officers responded to the area and were confronted by the subject, who was brandishing a handgun. The subject then pointed the gun at his head and threatened to kill himself. Officers requested assistance and officers from Orinda and Lafayette Police Departments responded to assist. Officers negotiated with the subject for over 15 minutes, attempting to get him to put the gun down. However, they were unsuccessful and the subject shot himself.
Moraga-Orinda Fire Department paramedics were staged at the scene and immediately began life-saving measures. The subject was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is being jointly investigated by the Moraga Police Department, Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office.
During the incident, for safety reasons, Donald Drive was closed and the Moraga School District made arrangements for Rheem School students to be picked up at the Ascot Court access. The students at Rheem were not in danger at any time, although the school took appropriate precautions. Donald Drive has since been reopened. No other people or officers were injured during the incident.

From Moraga School District:
Rheem School followed lock-down procedures at about 1:00 PM today after receiving notice from the Moraga Police Department of police activity near the intersection of Donald Drive and Moraga Road. There is no other information available at this time as to the details of the activity. All Rheem students are accounted for and were not in any immediate danger.
The Moraga Police Department initially reported access along Donald Drive to Rheem School would open at about 1:45 PM. However, at the time of this writing, there is no access or very limited access to Rheem School from Donald Drive. All students are being released from school at the regular Wednesday release time and will be escorted to Ascot Drive.
