1320 Locust St, Walnut Creek
After over eight years, Veggie Grill has closed in downtown Walnut Creek. Interestingly, the mailbox visible in the above photo didn’t exist when the restaurant first opened. This location used to be a post office so I imagine they needed to put a mailbox in its place?
Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
Citibank is coming to Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center where Hallmark used to be.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
In April, we saw the progress of Life Time fitness studio at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, directly across from Macy’s, and the preview center is now open. Look for a latte summer opening. For more information, check out their Walnut Creek page here.
Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
In April, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy, so it’s not surprising their Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center location is closing. I dropped by a couple of weeks ago and many things were only 20% off, with not much available anyway.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Earlier this year, we learned that the clothing and accessories store Alo Yoga would be coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, and they have now opened. Check out their online shop here.
Ygnacio Plaza, Walnut Creek

Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
Earlier this year, we learned that Paris Baguette would be coming to the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center, and they have now opened. Check out their menu here.
It’s still possible to see the arched entrance to the San Francisco Dugout store, which closed over three years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, which has been bricked over for the Crate & Barrel move across the street from their current, temporary spot in the former Neiman Marcus building.
Orinda Theatre Square
Starbucks has closed at Orinda Theatre Square. Their Camino Pablo & Camino Sobrante location across from Safeway remains open.
