AR Workshop Opening Next Month in Danville

A new DIY workshop studio called AR Workshop is opening in Danville where Live Happy Paper Crafts used to be. Their grand opening launch party will be held on May 19th to, “get a tour of our new workshop space, check out the sample projects, and shop our retail boutique featuring home decor gifts and accessories”. There will also be “giveaways, raffles, and promotions”. Register here and check out their workshop calendar here. Although other locations are BYOB it looks like the Danville location will allow small snacks or appetizers to be brought in but no alcohol, for now at least.

Friday Question of the Day – Do you Enjoy Watching Musicals?

The classic musical West Side Story is playing at Lesher Center in Walnut Creek through April which got me thinking about the musicals I’ve seen from High School to Broadway. The latest one I saw, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, was much better than I expected but my all time favorite was Chicago, with Bebe Neuwirth. Do you enjoy going to musicals? What are your favorite ones?

Toys “R” Us Definitely Closing at the Veranda in Concord

The Veranda, Concord

Last month we learned that Toys “R” Us was closing their US stores but there was still a slight chance that another buyer would scoop up some locations. However, the giant “GOING OUT OF BUSINESS” sign in front of the Toys “R” Us at the Veranda shopping center has put that idea to rest. Hopefully there will be some good sales happening eventually.

Brasas Do Brazil Brazilian Steak House Coming Soon to Concord

A new Brazilian steak house called Brasas Do Brazil is opening where Mimi’s Cafe used to be on Willow Pass Rd. in Concord near the Park & Shop shopping center. The signage says it’s going to be a churrascaria, which according to Wikipedia is, “place where meat is cooked in churrasco style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese word for ‘barbecue’.” Check for updates on their Facebook page here.

The Studio Gym may be coming to La Fiesta Square in Lafayette

The Studio, a Danville gym based on three types of fitness zones focusing on different components, is planning on coming to La Fiesta Square in Lafayette where Open Sesame currently is according to the latest La Fiesta Square leasing information. Find out more about the classes here.

If The Studio does end up moving here Open Sesame is planning to relocate within Lafayette.

Aung Maylika Burmese Cuisine Opens in Concord

A new Burmese restaurant called Aung Maylika opened recently on the Concord/Pleasant Hill border. As you can see in the photo below the inside has a separate, private dining section, and they’re planning on having a bar as well in the next few months. You may have noticed my latest Insta post of a sweet mocha-flavored Burmese milk tea. According to the server the tea leaves come from Burma and it tasted delicious, as did the Keema Palatha chicken appetizer. Check out their menu here. I look foward to trying more Burmese dishes at this spot!
