Last October we learned that Forever 21 was expected to close at Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek, and that time is now, with 60% – 80% off the entire store. When I dropped by yesterday, there was quite a line to get in. Not as long as the line to get into Apple, but it did wrap around the corner.
Last month we noted that Plaza Escuela taped off benches in response to the coronavirus pandemic and only a short time later some of the tape has been ripped off. Looks like some people really want to get back to normalcy and are chafing at the restrictions.
I wonder if Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in downtown Walnut Creek updates their business casual proper attire rules on an ongoing basis? I imagine every now and then someone comes in wearing something not on the list; the manager rolls their eyes and has a new sign printed with additional attire not to be worn.

Last summer we learned that the fitness studio TruFusion would be coming to Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek and their Coming Soon signage is now up. According to their Walnut Creek studio page, they offer 65 class styles and 240 unlimited group classes per week and to kick off the opening they have a special, “$30 FOR 30 DAYS” offer with no initiation fees that goes to $119/month thereafter. Check out their “Your First Time” page for further details.
A couple of YogaWorks pop up studios, one for yoga in Main Street Plaza and one for Pilates in Plaza Escuela, are now open until summer when their new gym will open in Main Street Plaza where Tuesday Morning used to be. Note that the new gym will only use part of the Tuesday Morning space, not all of it.
