The historic Danville Hotel, Restaurant and Saloon on Hartz Ave. in downtown Danville is getting redeveloped and “replaced with approximately 35,000 square feet of new residential, retail and restaurant uses” according to the Town of Danville website:
The historic Danville Hotel structure and the McCauley House on Hartz Avenue will both be retained and renovated. Existing uses on the remainder of the 1.12 acre site will be replaced with approximately 35,000 square feet of new residential, retail and restaurant uses. The project will include 16 for-sale second story residential units, averaging 1,200 square feet in size.
Castle Companies, the current co-owner of the property, will be preparing more detailed project drawings for Design Review Board review over the next several months. This effort will be followed up by preparation of building and site improvement drawings for the planned construction in 2012.
Find out more about the project from the Danville Express here.

23 Lafayette Cir, Lafayette
Back in May I noted that Roam Artisan Burgers would be opening in Lafayette Circle where A.G. Ferrari used to be and construction has finally begun for the planned October opening. I wonder if anything will change in the back patio area. I can’t wait to try out a Roam burger!

Denica’s Cafe – Real Food Kitchen, the Dublin based bakery and restaurant is planning on opening a new location in Walnut Creek this fall (in the Nob Hill shopping center) and are having a job fair tomorrow at their Dublin location for all three locations (Dublin, Walnut Creek and Livermore) according to a Craigslist posting here. 331 Hartz Ave, Danville
Diablo Dish reports that a new restaurant will be opening up by the end of February where the British pub The Crown used to be on Hartz Ave. in Danville. The owners also started Esin Restaurant in 1998 which is located nearby this new location (after relocating in 2008). The “gastropub concept” sounds great, can’t wait to see how it turns out!

1690 Locust St, Walnut Creek
I first noted that Hiro Sushi would be opening in place of CU Sushi at the corner of Locust St. and Giamonna Dr. in downtown Walnut Creek back in May and they have now opened. Couldn’t find a menu though, anyone try this place out? How does it compare to CU Sushi?
