Join the Lafayette Youth Commission for a ghoulishly good time as they present their 10^th annual Haunted House and the Lafayette Community Center. The Lafayette Youth Commission has created a haunted house every year since 2004. Some past themes have included Haunted Castle, Haunted Fairy Tales and last year’s Haunted Camp Ground. Come trick or treat through the Haunted Hotel and meet witches, clowns and more during the not so scary version of the house for ages 7 and under and their parents. Looking for something more frightening? Come to the Haunted Hotel during the very scary portion where zombies roam the rooms and halls looking their next victims! The very scary version of the Haunted Hotel is appropriate for the very brave ages 8 & up. The Haunted Hotel will be touring visitors on Friday, October 25^th and Sunday, October 27^th at the Lafayette Community Center at 500 St. Mary’s Rd. The not-so-scary version of the Haunted Hotel will be from 5:00-7:00pm and the very scary version will be from 7:30-9:30pm. Cost for ages 7 and under is $3 and ages 8 and over is $5. All proceeds are donated to various causes supported by the Lafayette Youth Commission. Past recipients of donations include The American Cancer Society, the Lafayette Library, Stanley Middle School, the Lafayette Community Center Foundation, Child Abuse Prevention and many more.

Fuscion Restaurant Opening in Orinda in November

October 24, 2013 11:30 am

65 Moraga Way, Orinda

Located next to Peet’s Coffee on Moraga Way in downtown Orinda, the space formerly occupied by Trattoria Lupetti will reopen as FUSCION Restaurant in November 2013 according to a sign above the doorway. The only thing I can find about this restaurant is in the sign itself, “Fine Dining”. Anyone know what kind of restaurant this will be? Thanks to a reader for sending in this tip.

Bank will be opening in this location according to a city planner I spoke with. Currently downtown Walnut Creek has four men’s clothing stores: Men’s Wearhouse, Atlas, Pelican Rock, and Daskalos in Broadway Plaza.

Cornology Leaving Broadway Plaza

October 23, 2013 11:30 am

The gourmet popcorn store Cornology is leaving Broadway Plaza for good in January when all stores on that side close while the big Broadway Plaza remodel takes place. Some stores will be relocating within Broadway Plaza but Cornology is not big enough so they are looking for help to relocate within Walnut Creek if possible. Visit this page to find out more and vote for Cornology to receive one of the grants so they can relocate.

OI-C Bowl Building getting Remodeled in Walnut Creek

October 22, 2013 11:30 am

1616 N. Main St, Walnut Creek

The building where the Chinese restaurant OI-C Bowl is located in downtown Walnut Creek apparently has a problem with the section above the awning in front and because of city regulations a bunch of upgrades will need to be made. OI-C Bowl will remain open during the remodel but the parking lot next to it will be closed until December.
