Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Back in May I noted that Juicy Couture closed in Broadway Plaza with the possibility of a travel agency opening up in its place and it turned out to be mostly true as Inspirato, a luxury destination club is opening a retail shop at this spot.
From their website:
Imagine privileged access to a growing collection of luxury vacation residences, custom experiences, VIP events, and more, hand-selected to fit almost every interest and occasion. Imagine a trusted advisor committed to personalizing each trip you take, to make it better than the last. Imagine the benefits of being known and recognized every time you travel. Now imagine it all in a private club that inspires you to live life’s best moments more easily and often than you ever thought possible. We are Inspirato with American Express – welcome to a whole new world.

A couple of weeks ago we learned that The Hop Grenade Taproom & Bottleshop would be opening very soon in Concord across from Todos Santos Plaza in Concord and they are now open. The recording studio is in back with a large window you can peer into while they’re recording. Check out their bar menu here and their current beer menu here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that the stationery store Papyrus is closing today in downtown Walnut Creek. When I dropped by this weekend their remaining greeting cards were $1 with 90% off everything else. According to a store employee they will be eventually relocating to Broadway Plaza after the redevelopment is finished.
A few days ago I noted that the Park Plaza redevelopment was almost finished in downtown Lafayette and the building at left in the photo below is the location of the Pioneer store as explained in the plaque.

Since we learned recently that Noah’s Bagels is coming to Walnut Creek, I’ve been wondering where people go for their bagels. Lafayette also has a Noah’s Bagels, downtown Walnut Creek has House of Bagels. When I’m in New York I usually go to H&H. Is it possible to find a New York quality bagel in the East Bay? Or is it something in the water that makes this an impossible task?

Back in May we learned that Smitten Ice Cream opened in downtown Lafayette and their signage is now up. Check out their menu here.

Back in April I noted that Pelican Rock Men’s Clothing was moving from Walnut Creek to Danville and they are now open. Check out their Facebook page here.

Back in April I noted that Mona’s Burgers and Shakes would be opening in the Palos Verdes mall in Walnut Creek this summer and they are progressing with their signage up now and a Craigslist post looking for servers, cooks and cashiers. Their Facebook page is subtitled, “burger restaurant, hot dog joint, salad bar”.
