XCVI Returns to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek

September 20, 2016 8:30 am

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek

It’s been a few years and now the fashion boutique XCVI has returned to Broadway Plaza near the fountain area. Previously they were here as a pop-up but I’ve been told they will be here at least a year and possibly longer.

From their website:

XCVI is about luxury, wearability, comfort. The luxury of super-soft, breathable fabrics that drape without clinging, skimming a woman’s curves, flattering her body.

The wearability of clothes that mix-and-match or work as a complete ensemble. We create clothes that can be worn every day in a thousand different ways. Clothes that feel comfortable all day long. Clothes that can be worn from day to evening, can be dressed up or down. Clothes that are versatile.

The Orchards shopping center across the street from Encina Grande on Ygnacio Valley Rd. in Walnut Creek is finally open with Safeway (and Wells Fargo) being the first two stores to open. The Safeway is huge with a Starbucks inside and something I haven’t seen in any other Safeway before: cafe seating. That’s great that people will have a place to eat!

Friday Question of the Day – What is your Favorite Chocolate?

September 16, 2016 8:30 am

Earlier this week we learned that GODIVA opened in Broadway Plaza where I enjoyed a $6 soft serve ice cream. A couple of people complained about the quality of GODIVA chocolates saying, “never thought much of their chocolates anyway, taste waxy” as well as “I’m more of a Valrhona fan than a Godiva one anyways”.

I’m also a fan of Valrhona, and recently when I was in San Francisco I stopped by Dandelion Chocolate and tried some incredible craft chocolate. What’s your favorite chocolate?

September 15, 2016 11:30 am

In July we learned that Forever Yogurt would be opening at the corner of N. Main St. and Geary Rd. in Walnut Creek and according to the signage the “boba tea and bao shop” Bee & Tea will also be opening in this spot. Sounds like a great combination!

From the Bee & Tea website:

Bee & Tea is on a mission to make boba tea mainstream. With a vibrant and urban storefront, we want everyone to experience our top quality Taiwanese boba milk tea beverages by offering a wide variety of flavor, sweetness, and topping options for each guest’s brew. Bee & Tea is modernizing the boba tea world to bring personalized beverage creations, mouthwatering bao and a chic service to you.

Bao are steamed, soft, sweet buns stuffed with only the freshest ingredients like pork, miso steak, BBQ beef and Japanese curry chicken that will leave you wanting more after just one bite.

Bao buns have an ancient legacy in China, dating back more than 2,000 years. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with these delicious on-the-go snacks today. Our handmade bao fillings are cooked exclusively for Bee & Tea stores, rotating featured recipes so you can try something new on every visit!
