Blackhawk Plaza Pond Drained in Danville while Ducks Wander Aimlessly

March 1, 2017 11:30 am

A sad scene at Blackhawk Plaza in Danville as the pond is drained for a makeover. As I looked out I saw ducks moping around not sure what to do. Quite a few were just sitting on the stones in the empty pond while others wandered aimlessly. Hopefully the water gets added back soon!

Male School Administrator Secretly Filmed Naked at Renaissance Club Sport in Walnut Creek

Unbelievable. According to this NBC Bay Area article, a Clayton Valley Charter High School student was arrested after images of a naked school administrator were shared. “He is accused of filming Linzey inside the locker room of the nearby Renaissance Club Sport in Walnut Creek. Investigators say he then posted the video online.”

I remember when a celebrity shared a photo of naked woman from a gym in Los Angeles last year and now this. What is the matter with some people!

RadioShack Closing in Lafayette

February 28, 2017 8:30 am

Lafayette Clocktower

Thanks to a reader for sending word (and photo) that RadioShack is closing at the Lafayette Clocktower on Mt. Diablo Blvd. A couple of years ago they integrated Sprint stores within but looks like it was too little too late. For a way bigger selection Fry’s Electronics is located in Concord, worth the trip.

Craig Ventresco & Meredith Axelrod:

Mighty Fine Guitars

Come jump in the time machine and travel back to the early 1900s. Craig’s virtuosic early-jazz and Tin Pan Alley chord-melody guitar playing is nothing short of astonishing, as well as hugely transportive and Meredith’s voice, well …

Check Out the Big Ass Fan at Momo’s in Walnut Creek

February 27, 2017 11:30 am

1444 N. California Blvd, Walnut Creek

Back in May we learned that San Francisco-based Momo’s would be opening where McCovey’s used to be in downtown Walnut Creek and they have now opened. Gone are the iconic baseball bat door handles, replaced with their signature olive and toothpick. Check out their San Francisco menu here. Inside looks spacious; if you go don’t forget to check out the big ass fan above the entry, it’s HUGE. Biggest fan I’ve ever seen! You may be wondering why I described such a fan that way, well, the company that makes them is Big Ass Fans. Classic!

Aritzia Opens in Broadway Plaza in Downtown Walnut Creek

February 27, 2017 8:30 am

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek

Last June we learned that the Vancouver-based women’s clothing store Aritzia would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they have now opened. They took over the former J.Crew and J.Jill spots and with soaring ceilings it feels quite spacious. The artistic flourishes throughout the store add to the scene. Check out their website here.
