Orinda Theatre Square
The Intuitive Writing Project, an an educational writing program for girls which opened a few years ago in Orinda Theatre Square has closed. According to the owner they are temporarily operating out in Moraga but “it’s possible that we will always be mobile, as this will allow us to serve girls throughout the Bay Area, from San Ramon to Marin and from Oakland to SF.” Check for updates on their website here.

This year’s Tribal & Textile Art Show comes along at an exciting time, when the fine arts environment has embraced the natural connection between tribal, modern, and contemporary. Some of the exhibitors are already exploring the dialogue between contemporary and tribal art in their galleries, with great fanfare.

San Jose-based Frujuice is opening in a permanent spot on the second floor of the Sunvalley shopping center in Concord. Check out their menu (towards the bottom) here. I look forward to trying the Juicy Spicy Papaya dish/drink!

Ortega produce began to sell fruit at the San Jose Capital Flea Market. Years later getting a permanent location at the San Jose Berryessa Flea Market where the opportunity was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Ortega. Recently I drove down to Monterey Bay Aquarium. It had been a few years since the last time I visited and I enjoyed seeing familiar animals such as jellyfish, sea otters, sharks, sardines, anchovies and of course the kelp forest. Seeing my son interact with the animals made it even more special. What is your favorite day trip excursion?

The triangular modern architecture with plenty of outdoor space will be a fabulous showcase for what could prove to become a destination spot bringing in not only locals but others from around Lamorinda and beyond. In addition to a restaurant and on-site brewery, stay tuned for more exciting details to come!



Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Makers Market, featuring American-made, handcrafted goods has relocated from their Broadway Plaza spot across from Nordstrom a few short hops away next to the Tesla showroom. Their new spot where Kit and Ace used to be, is huge and really shows off their offerings comfortably. Browse their online selection here.
On February 24th they’re having a grand opening event to “come sip, eat, create, hang out with makers, and learn about our mission to Rebuild the Legacy of American Made.” Don’t forget you can get “20% off the purchase of a single product for our Facebook followers, with mention of this promotion.”
Another upcoming event takes place March 10th with their outdoor craft fair taking place in the plaza in front of True Food Kitchen and Starbucks. From the event page:
