Earlier this month, we learned that The North Face would be coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, and they have now opened. According to an employee at the store, this is a temporary pop-up location (only one floor) but they plan to eventually move to a permanent location somewhere in Broadway Plaza. Check out their online selection here.

The North Face is coming to Broadway Plaza where The Gap used to be. Check out their online selection here. Is this serendipity that a shop starting with The
is replaced by a shop starting with The
as well? Or is something deeper at play here?
From their website:
Named for the most challenging side of the mountain, The North Face has equipped explorers since 1966 to reach their dreams. Driven by the mantra of Never Stop Exploring™, our expeditions inspire us to test the outer limits of performance and possibility.

In September, we learned that The Cooperage would be relocating from their prime Lafayette spot to downtown Walnut Creek where Sakimoto Sushi Lounge, and before that, Corners Tavern, used to be, and they have now opened. Check out their main menu here, and brunch menu here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Green Fish Seafood Market is coming to Walnut Creek where Walnut Creek Produce used to be, next to Il Pavone. It looks like this place has an existing market in Oakland Chinatown. Find out more about the history of the Oakland market here.
Check out the latest Bedford Gallery exhibit Bits + Pieces, Contemporary Art on a Small Scale, through December 17th in downtown Walnut Creek.
From the exhibit web page:
From teacup dogs and ships in a bottle, to tiny dinner tables set with a feast, fascination with pint-sized items has endured the test of time. The featured artists work in micro and small-scale, creating intricate paintings, sculpture, ceramics, and installations in direct opposition to their standard-sized counterparts.

A store called Crystal Dreams is “coming soon” to downtown Walnut Creek where Ming Quong used to be. Smart move to choose this spot which seems similar in at least some respects I suspect.
