MakerFest at Lafayette Library on July 30th

The Lafayette Library and Learning Center is celebrating makers, creators, and the curious in the community at MakerFest on Saturday, July 30. The third annual MakerFest will include demonstrations for all ages in 3D printing, air-powered rocketry, programmable microcontrollers, Lego robotics and cosplay. This free event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“MakerFest is our biggest event of the year,” said Senior Community Library Manager Vickie Sciacca. “Last year we hosted hundreds of people and we expect to get another amazing turnout this year.”
Community members attending MakerFest can also enjoy hands-on projects like a DIY beauty bar, scribble bots, DIY instruments, a photo booth, computer programming for beginners and DIY ice cream.

GODIVA Opening Next to Victoria’s Secret in Broadway Plaza

Experience Mt Diablo State Park after the gates are closed and everyone has gone home. Join Naturalist Michael Marchiano for a twilight to dark excursion in Mitchell Canyon, looking for night time critters including, bats, owls, raccoons, frogs and toads, night hunting insects and scorpions. Learn about some of the seldom seen, secretive creatures that come out on a warm evening. Dress for the weather, must bring a flashlight, and also bring water and a snack if desired. Cameras are welcome. But mostly bring your curiosity and desire to have a new experience.

Urban Remedy Juice Bar Coming to Downtown Walnut Creek

Last month we learned that the organic juice bar Urban Remedy was coming to La Fiesta Square in downtown Lafayette and according to SF Eater they are also planning on opening in downtown Walnut Creek in August. It will be located next to Veggie Grill and in addition to drinks will also offer ready-to-eat meals and snacks. Check out their juices here, and meals and snacks here.

Solstice Sunglasses Coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek

Broadway Plaza will soon be home to three sunglasses stores with Solstice Sunglasses opening soon near Macy’s. Apex by Sunglass Hut opened last December, also near Macy’s, and Sunglass Hut is located near Neiman Marcus. Check out the Solstice Sunglasses selection here.
