Dos Coyotes Border Cafe, which opened a few years ago at the Willows shopping center in Concord, has closed. I wonder if they held out a little longer whether the increased foot traffic from Half Price Books opening next door would have made any difference? Thanks to a reader for sending word about the closing.

Half Price Books, which features, “new and used books, magazines, comics, records, videos, CDs, DVDs and collectible items” opened last week at Willows shopping center in Concord, moving from their previous spot across from Todos Santos Plaza. When I visited over the weekend it was packed full of shoppers and it manages to fit a lot more products than I imagined it would. Check out the Concord page here.

In February we learned that Half Price Books would be closing across from Todos Santos Plaza in Concord and I noted back then that Half Price Books would be a great addition to the Willows shopping center especially in terms of competing with the soon-to-open Barnes & Noble next door at The Veranda. It looks like I’m not the only one who thought that because according to the City of Concord Facebook page they plan on reopening late November or early December at the Willows shopping center where Aaron Brothers used to be.
This seems like a smaller spot than before but I’m glad to see them returning to Concord and to have two bookstores within walking distance is going to be great!

Any Mountain is closing next month on April 22nd in the Willows shopping center in Concord. When I visited over the weekend everything was at least 20% off as far as I could tell. This will leave Willows with one outdoor recreation store, REI. Any Mountain will also be closing their Roseville location.

The Italian restaurant MidiCi opened recently at the Willows shopping center in Concord. Check out their pizza menu here and appetizer menu here. Interestingly, there is a living tree in the middle of the restaurant, “a symbol of tradition and a witness of eras gone by”.

MidiCi, the Italian restaurant featuring Neapolitan Pizzas that we learned would be opening last spring, is finally opening in the Willows shopping center in Concord on February 15th. Check out their pizza menu here and appetizer menu here. Interestingly, they changed their signage from Neapolitan Pizza to Italian Kitchen as seen in the above photo, I imagine to show that they offer more than just pizza. For those who held on to the free pizza coupon cards they were handing out months ago, one employee there said they’ll honor them.
From their website:
Our certified pizzaiolos (pizza makers) invite you to select fresh, natural, high quality, mostly non-GMO ingredients to create your ideal Neapolitan Pizza in the open, center-staged bustling kitchen, also known as “the heart”.
